Re: 2015 R1200R Water Boxer

Maybe the two water-head boxer threads can be combined. I find the styling a bit disappointing. It's not bad, just "me too". Like it's trying to compete against the superduke, tuono, speed triple, Z1000, etc. Granted, the air-cooled version could've looked more exciting, but it does look l...

Re: R1200 Water Cooled

Just introduced. The abandonment of telelever is disappointing.

Re: New battery, everything fits except . . .

Can you drill a larger hole in the battery negative contact ? Better to alter the battery than the bike. Good point about not altering the bike. I think the screw is too large to modify the contact of the battery. I might just use a small L-shaped piece of metal with two holes; one to accomodate th...

New battery, everything fits except . . .

So I'm finally changing my battery after 8 years. It's a bit of a hassle on an 1150, but everything gets disconnected ok, everything fits fine, all the leads for accessories are fine, except for this . . . http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z183/dino_ocampo/IMG_0234_zps28046b31.jpg For some reason, ...

[quote="Woland"]I for one would be interested in a BMW sport-touring boxer that is more sporty than the RT and more "toury" than the R.[/quote

The R1150RS was one of my favorite Beemers ever, so it would be great if they could come up with a contemporary version of it.

Re: Is BMW weaning us off Telelever?

R1200ST? Source? I haven't heard about this. And the "spy photos" of the "next R" aren't necessarily conclusive. The RT and GS still have Telelever, so I doubt BMW is trying to wean anyone off it. However, I could see putting conventional forks on the R—lots of roadster type fol...

Is BMW weaning us off Telelever?

First the oddly-named RNineT, and now it seems the water-cooled R1200R and R1200ST will have conventional forks. Makes you wonder why some models will have Telelever (GS and RT so far) and some won't.

Congratulations!

Incidentally, it's likely the camera angle, but in your first pic, the NineT looks significantly smaller than the R1200R next to it.

Re: Riding with earbuds and music

I sometimes listen to music on really boring parts of rides, like freeways/motorways. I use earplugs (to cut out the wind roar) combined with a Sena bluetooth system paired with my iPhone. It's pretty easy to use voice commands to call up a playlist, or play songs by a specific artist, etc. You don'...

Re: Last gen hex head vs. the new water boxer

You might also want to think about whether Telelever is important to you or not. Assuming some of the spy shots that have been taken are accurate, it seems the current R1200R will be the last naked BMW roadster to have it. http://www.motorradonline.de/news/erlkoenig-bmw-r-1200-r-naked-bike-mit-wasse...

Re: How will BMW hide the radiators on the next roadster?

My opinion of the R nine T remains: meh. Seems they took an R12R and removed most of the versatility. Looks like an occasional Saturday afternoon ride. Exactly. I think it's pretty good looking actually, but way too impractical. I'd only buy one if there were a bunch of other bikes in the stable (a...

Is this the 90th anniversary version of the Edition 80?

Dunno if it'll only be sold for one year or if it's a limited edition model. Good-looking thing anyway.

Re: How will BMW hide the radiators on the next roadster?

Probably in the same way the radiators were disguised in the Rockster, inside fat "cheeks" at the front of the tank. This seems to be the most feasible solution, given that either BMW and/or the market will insist on telelever suspension. I actually find the Rockster radiators a more eleg...

How will BMW hide the radiators on the next roadster?

I assume it'll be a while before we see a water-cooled R1200R. The naked/standard variant of the boxer line is usually the last to go into production. But I'm wondering when that time comes, how will the radiators be hidden (and will they need to be much larger than the oil-cooling radiator thats cu...

Re: Anyone installed Rockster steering stops?

Got some info from another friend with a Rockster, who ordered the same steering stops. Apparently they fit the Roadster, but not the Rocksters since we've the fork from the R1100S. Too bad.

Anyone installed Rockster steering stops?

Like these:

A friend dropped his R1150R and snapped the steering stop tab off his frame. I'm wondering if getting an aftermarket one would be cheap insurance or a waste of money.

Me too. It's annoying how much I like Telelever (since it severely limits my "next bike" options).

Re: Spiritual successor of Rockster Edition 80?

I dunno if this is a teaser for the production version of the Concept 90, or it's an unrelated development, but it potentially looks a lot more versatile and practical (handlebars instead of clip ons, for one), but maybe not as gorgeous. http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/news/bmw-announces-aircooled-9...
