Why don't you ask the dealer if you could take that R12R for a teensie little test ride eh? :)
Ha ha. Far too risky. Last time I did that, I ended up buying one!... But , of course you know that.

All in good time my friend,...all in good time. ;)

Hello from previous member

Just a quick hello to all those I had banter with up to last year. Am on my R12 sabatical currently (riding a Triumph Tiger 800Xc at the moment. Launched last year, they 're doing really well in the UK). However, was in the BMW dealer at the weekend and sat on a 2012 R1200R. Saw it parked on its sid...

Re: BMW WORST SEAT

Hello folks, Been away from the forum for a year and just popped back to check an old thread when I saw this. I had the same complaint with my stock seat. My solution was to buy the BMW comfort seat. It made a noticeable difference to comfort. (its wider and flatter so spreads the bum load better). ...

Anyone up for doing a 2012 Owners Calendar?

Nice to be back on the forum again after a year out. As I look proudly at my 2011 R1200R owners calendar, I remember with some fondness the fun we had with the photo competition last year (and the year before) to select the 12 fabulous photos for our calendar. Can't help wondering if there will be a...

Had them on my R1200R and seemed fine. Decent grip and reasonable wear.

Expect a new owner shortly

Watch out for a new member called "Shedman" (if its not already taken ) . Nice guy, who bought my pride and joy at the weekend. He intends to become a member of the forum. I 'm sure he'll enjoy it as much as I have. Very sad to see the bike go but sort of re-assuring to see it go to a fell...

2011 Calendar Sales

21 calendars sold
$32 commission earned for the forum.

mark my words...modest sales today will become rare "motorcycling memorabilia" of a classic bike in years to come !

Glad I 've got my copy to show my grandchildren when they're riding their boring electric KTMs. You got yours yet?

Re: Selling my cherished R12 so accessories up for grabs

First of all, thank you for the interest and offers made. In fact, I have just agreed a sale of the bike with all of the accessories included to a fellow BMW enthusiast in the UK. Felt it was best to give first refusal to the person buying the bike. Don was right, the sale is quicker by including th...

Selling my cherished R12 (now sold,...sadly)

(edit 1st March..Now sold :( :( ) With a heavy heart I 've decided to sell my beautiful black R1200R. Until I can afford a new Classic (in a year or two) I 've decided to have a change - back to a Triumph triple (the new Triumph Tiger 800XC). Its a great bike and since I live close to the Triumph fa...

Re: Recommendation for R1200R seat bag

Look at the Wolfman "beta". More capacity, clips on and off and ability to add attachments. The best bit is that it has side pockets for easy access to things you need quickly eg water bottle when you stop for a drink. I know the UK distributor personally but you can check the Wolfman webs...

Re: 2011 CALENDAR NOW AVAILABLE!!

Me too Don! Agree, the calendar looks good in the flesh. Have compared it with last years. Interesting to note that ,last year, the focus was on owners bikes eg that stunning phot of Ziobato's in January. Whereas, the 2011 calendar pics are more about location or composition. It's just the way the c...

EARN SOME CASH FOR THE FORUM (and get a daily buzz!)

Forgive the plug, but an easy way to do this is to order a copy of the 2011 R1200R Owners calendar. For every copy ordered on Cafepress, $1.50 commission is earned which is being 100% donated to the forum. 18 Calendars have been ordered so far and $27.50 commision has been earned. The Calendar compr...

Re: Helmet options for the naked riders

[quote="ChiTown"]I would suggest a Shoei, Arai, or Shuberth helmet... most all the rest are CHEAP copy cat helmets not worthy of protecting our heads, let alone being comfortable or efficient.... You buy what one of those 3 high quality name brand helmet fits YOUR head's shape best. Do you...

Re: Fastest colors

I had a similar thought when I bought my 07 R12. I wanted a black one but couldn't find one at the right price and ended up with one in silver. It was OK for a year but just didn't excite me as a colour. Solution? RESPRAY! Had the tank and panels etc painted black by local paint specialist. All for ...
