Re: Maybe a dumb windshield question
I read that post as well. I have a Parabellum tall sport shield on my RR and absolutely love it. I don't notice the top wobbling too much. I has great protection, no buffeting and works really well. One man's opinion.

Recommendation for R1200R seat bag
Hi all. I'm planning to take a long trip this Spring on the R1200R and was looking for a good seat bag to hold quite a bit of clothing. Any recommendations (or items for sale) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

GPS setting for back roads
I'm looking to buy a GPS unit for the RR. Garmin Zumo seems to be the dominant brand. Are there any on the market, or does the Zumo allow for settings, that keep you on the back roads? I'm looking to take a trip this summer and would like to stay off the interstates as much as possible. My Garmin Nu...

Re: "New" Parabellum Replacement Windshield
I'm about 5'11.5" and I see over the top of the 26" shield no problem. I never have to look through the shield unless I want to, like when I'm really tired and rest my chest on top of my tank bag. The air does hit about the top 1/4 of my helmet but with absolutely no buffeting. I've read s...

Re: "New" Parabellum Replacement Windshield
I have a 26" Parbellum Sport Screen. Pretty close to your replacement screen. I love it. Relatively quiet, good air flow, no buffeting. Here's some photos. http://i871.photobucket.com/albums/ab279/dlemisch/DSC08350.jpg ]; http://i871.photobucket.com/albums/ab279/dlemisch/DSC08359.jpg ; http://i...

Re: Advice for first road trip
Again, many thanks for all the comments. I DID go through Gatlinberg, TN on the way home. That was my first and also my last trip through. Ditto on the mega tackiness. But hey, it's income for someone so who am I to criticize. Still, never again. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, I came...

Re: Advice for first road trip
Many thanks to those of you who provided advice for my first long road trip. 2000 miles round trip from Detroit to Charleston, South Carolina. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure, West Virginia was clearly made for motorcycles. Thanks for the suggestions of Frog Togs (kept me bone dry); Al...

Re: Tour around west coast of Scotland
Rocket, you brought back such beautiful memories. I lived in Scotland in 1982. I think I saw Argyll Castle in there and Loch Fynne. What a beautiful trip you must have had.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Advice for first road trip
I've been riding my very first motorcycle, my R1200R, for exactly one year and am embarking on my first extended road trip. I'm going from Detroit, Michigan, to Columbia, South Carolina, for business in June. It's about 800 miles. I need advice on what to bring by way of clothing, spare parts, and t...

Re: Cal Sci Windshield
Robert, I have about 1500 miles on the Parabellum Sport Shield. It was extremely easy to install (I am no wrench and had no problems at all). I was really having some issues with the stock screen at speeds over 60 mph, very uncomfortable and slightly scary. With the Parabellum I've had the bike up t...

Re: Cal Sci Windshield
I am very happy with my Parabellum tall windshield for the R1200R. It is inexpensive, $200, and you do not have to buy the BMW tall shield bracket for an additional $100 as you do with the CB and CalSci. It comes with everything you need. I'm 6'0" and the wind hits me at about the top 1/3 of my...

Re: Another windshield question
Actually, I was steered to the Parabellum by members of this forum. The other shield I really liked was the Cal Sci. But in the end, because I would have had to buy the BMW tall shield bracket for $195 and the windshield itself for $200, I opted for the Parabellum for $200 total.

Re: Another windshield question
I decided to go with the Parabellum sport shield, tall, which arrived last weekend. Super easy installation. This has changed my riding dramatically. I can cruise on the interstate with no problem. Not that I'm a speed junkie, but 80-90 (for test purposes) was no problem. I'm 6' 0" with a 32&qu...

Re: Another windshield question
Thanks for the replies. Any thoughts on the necessity of having openings to allow air in on hot days? Does the Cee-Bailey and the Parabellum have them? I notice the Cee-Bailey has a lip at the top to direct air away from the rider. Looks like a good idea.

Another windshield question
Hello, I am a very happy new owner of a R1200R. I'm enjoying the look of the sport windshield and also the resulting air in the face. However, for longer rides I think I'll need something to keep that wind a little more at bay. I'm looking at the tallest versions of either the Cee Bailey or the ZTec...

Re: Newbie says hello and question about crash bars
Thanks so much for the excellent advice. Yesterday was my first full day of riding the new R. I absolutely love it. I'll go with the Motech bars.

Newbie says hello and question about crash bars
I've just purchased a 2007 R1200R. It's my first motorcycle of any kind (I'm 51) and simply fell in love with it. I'd like to install engine guards/crash bars to protect the bike from my "learning" curves. Any suggestions of what type, (Motech, BMW, plastic covers) would be most appreciate...
