Re: Consumer Reports

Why Beemer and Harley riders love their bikes even though they're more expensive and less reliable than Japanese bikes? It's called cognitive dissonance.

ABS problem solved

Lengthy thread on this site shows ABS is Achilles heel on this bike. Mine failed at 33K on my '07. Sent my unit off to Module Masters <http://www.modulemaster.com>. Rebuilt with upgraded parts for $300, with 5-yr warranty and 1 week turnaround time. Even with cost of local mechanic remove/replace un...

Re: FAILED ABS Unit

Must add my name to this sorry thread. Brake Failure lit up on my '07 with 34K miles. Dealer says its the pump, which costs $1600 + labor. Has anyone found brake fluid change to help?

There was a brake line recall on the '07. Check to see if they've been replaced.

Re: Yuasa

Just purchased a new Yuasa battery. After adding acid, instructions are to charge at 1.2amp for 5-10 hrs. I have a 6amp charger and a .75amp tender. Will it hurt to charge for shorter period at 6amps?
BTW got 6 yrs and 30K miles from OEM batt before it started acting cranky.

Re: Tire wear

I just noticed my front tire (Conti Road Attack) has severe wear band on left side (my left, facing forward). I'm sure this happened since I moved to FL about 6 mos ago and put about 1000 miles on these straight flat roads. Total miles on tire about 7000. Rear tire is worn flat in center. This link ...

Re: sticky neutral

Thanks to your suggestions, I've found that shifting from N to 1st or 2nd whilst pulling in the clutch results in a thunk into gear. I was pulling the clutch in all the way before trying to shift (though not holding it for many seconds as Don suggests). With more practice and finesse I might find th...

sticky neutral

I have an intermittent problem shifting out of neutral, either down to first or up to second. Sometimes I have to stomp the shift lever and it still won't budge. So I rarely use neutral, instead keeping the bike in gear and pulling in the clutch when I stop. The bike is an 07 with 30K. I got it used...

I've been a freeloader for a couple years. How does one make a contribution? Do you have a secure credit card system?

trucking the bike

Next month I'll be making a 1000-mile move with a 20' U-haul truck, carrying the bike along with our other belongings. Since there are no places to fasten tie-downs in the usual manner, I'm planning the following. Place the front tire in the left front corner of the cargo box with an upright mattres...

Getting old

I just got back from a 3000-mile, 11-day trip to Colorado, including a ride up Pikes Peak, and I'm bushed. Intended to camp most nights, but the prospect of setting up the tent and sleeping on the ground had no appeal so I moteled most nights. Last year I did 6000 miles in 16 days to Redmond and bey...

Re: My bike consistently runs out of gas

I've found the 'miles to empty' function completely useless. When I first fill up, it gives a reading of 250ish, a reasonable number. But as I drive, the sum of miles actually traveled plus the 'miles to empty' greatly exceeds 300. So I reset the trip odo each time I fill up and, at a typical 50mpg,...

Rainsuit

I don't see this topic listed so I'll ask. What rainsuit would you recommend?
My Goretex suit does not do the job. Vinyl suits I've had in the past are like a sauna, especially in warm weather. Is there anything that's both waterproof and breathable?

Re: Problem with Parabellum Scout

This looks like something I'd like to try, except I'm mechanically challenged. It's hard to see from the picture what a cage nut is and how it's attached to the bracket. A little more description would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, --Roger --------------------------------- Roger Poppen <http://myp...

Re: Picking up a new 2007 R1200R next week and have ???

I got an '07 two years ago with 8K. Have since added 18K trouble free miles and am on original battery. No problems with fuel sensor but using trip odo is best way to determine when to fill up. There was service recall on brake lines so check with dealer to see if they have been replaced. Hope you e...

Re: My new Parabellum Scout will be here in 2 weeks

I've been satisfied with the Scout though only had sport screen to compare. Good protection with no buffeting. I'm 5-6 so got 16" screen so I could look over, not thru. Can tuck down in rain behind tank bag and stay dry on top. With no lowers, legs get wet. I'm having it and luggage painted to ...
