Good Rides in Colorado and Vicinity?
I'm going to ride to Winter Park, CO from Knoxville, TN toward the end of August for a visit. I plan to use WP as a base for some day trips but might have a 2 to 3-day window for a worthy ride. I expect to be there about 10 days. Any advice or tips would be appreciated. I could spring for a meal or ...

Re: So is the OEM topcase rack necessary for touring?
I'm convinced now I've seen deilenberger's photos. But when neither the manufacturer nor the UK importer state an incompatibility you can understand why I queried this. sproggy, I guess I would believe a retailer who has to give a refund rather than a manufacturer or importer. Interesting point of ...

From the TwistedThrottle website: "The Alu-Rack cannot be used with the original BMW sidecase luggage mounts installed; however, the Alu-Rack can be used with SW-MOTECH Quick-Lock sidecarriers installed, which can carry Givi, Hepco-Becker, Krauser, Pelican, and Zarges sidecases." Quite ag...

Re: So is the OEM topcase rack necessary for touring?
I just got back from a 4-day Memorial Day trip and had to deal with that exact same problem. I used a dry duffle, the type that uses three rolls to seal it, with Rok straps and it worked great. One element I had was a seatback for the Corbin seat that I got with the bike. It made mounting the duffle...

Re: Handlebar Question
dutchie,
The issues you mention are the big reason I went with the F800ST bars. All the controls fit right on.
I'm still hunting for my camera.

Re: Handlebar Question
I would be glad to but it may be a few days. My camera is MIA and I don't know how to get pics from my cell phone to my computer. In addition, I'm a real squid when it comes to uploading pics.

Re: Handlebar Question
I installed the F800ST bars with 1" risers. Even with the risers, the bars are so low that the turn signal switch would hit the tank. I made some steering lock limiters that give me about 1/2" clearance to the tank. I really like the flickable feel they give the bike because they are so mu...

Re: SW-MOTECH Crashbars/Engine Guards
Just installed mine a few minutes ago. Thinking of getting some highway pegs to mount on the sides that can be folded down ... thoughts? I was thinking about that also, but I am concerned about my pants leg melting on the hot cylinder head. I don't know the temperature of the head compared to that ...

Re: How Do You Adjust Steering Lock?
Upon further review... I don't think the Wunderlich stop concept would do what I want. Were the bike to tip over, the Wunderlich thingy would work on the lower portion of the fork but I'm afraid that the load on the handlebar would twist the forks enough that the switch would dent the tank. So my ne...

How Do You Adjust Steering Lock?
I've done numerous searches on this topic because I know I've seen something on it before. I've come up empty. Can someone either tell/show me where the adjustment is made or post the link(s) to an earlier post? I've even gone to microfiche and can't find anything. I've just put on the F800ST bars w...

Re: Help on Removing/Installing Heated Grips
Peter, This swap is in the opposite direction of your goal. The F800ST bars are lower and narrower than the R12R bars. I'm not sure about the F800GS bars.

Re: Help on Removing/Installing Heated Grips
Nigel,
Thanks for the input. That eases my mind as to what to look for. It sounds like a piece of cake. I shouldn't have to drill any holes since the F800ST's bars also accommodate heated grips.

Help on Removing/Installing Heated Grips
I want to swap bars to the F800STs as others have done. However, I have heated grips and am looking for information and tips about removing them, especially the left side. I have done numerous searches on the topic and have come up empty. I even bought a "Service Manual" CD to no avail. Ar...

Re: wunderlich throttle set lock
I'm not entirely certain but I seem to recall reading a thread somewhere that the rotation of the Wunderlich throttle lock is opposite of that of the throttle. That is, you rotate the lock forward to lock it and backward to release it. Check out this link for an alternative: http://www.kaokousa.com/...

Re: Slow Return of Front Brake Lever
"Well, maybe the lever's pivot point is in need of some lubrication." Now you're trying to embarass me! But I went down anyway and lubed the pivot point with no change in the lever action. I also did some more comparisons with other bikes and it seems that the slowness is generat...
