Re: Fuel Strip Failure - interesting thread..
This is an interesting read, although beyond my electronics experience. I recently had my fourth strip installed and the mechanic claims the new strip was a re-designed part bearing the same part number. Anyone else have confirmation of this?

Re: Fuel Gauge Update
Just to confirm..... People are being stranded (bike won't start/run) because of an incorrect sending unit turning off the fuel pump and the bike won't start even though there's plenty of fuel in the tank. Right ? Just mine that I've heard of unless someone else here has had this experience. While ...

True, and even without the display the OBC still uses the information from the fuel sensor.websterize wrote:It's highly unlikely the techs can deactivate the fuel gauge readout.

Re: Earplugs
+1. I used helmet speakers + earplugs for awhile, but this setup is much better. I like that I was able to order smaller foam inserts online. Very comfortable even after several hours in the saddle.websterize wrote:I like the Etymotic ER6i — about $75 from Amazon.

Re: Fuel Gauge Update
Maybe mine will work. Don't count on the order of production eliminating failure. My 2010 has failed twice. The first was just your average stuck at the same level indication. The second time left me stranded. It had fuel- the pump shut off because of the fuel strip failure. Two failures with less ...

Re: R1200R PHOT0 GALLERY
You happy with the fairing, Patrick? It looks sharp... Thanks Peter. I'm really happy with the fairing, but the only things I have to compare with are the sport shield and of course no shield. It creates a nice quite pocket of air. The airstream off the shield hits right above my visor and side-to-...

Really. I guess he's got a couple stories in his bag. Regardless, he does not do our seats.BigEasy wrote:Not to pick nits, but when I talked to him about it he didn't do his work on them because the cover is glued to the foam.

Re: Is This a Comfort Seat?
I guess I'm going to go the Spencer route. http://greatdaytoride.com/Home_Page.php Unfortunately, Spencer doesn't modify seats on our pans anymore. Something about the pans cracking. I tried that route as well- he has a great reputation of making stock seats bearable. I ended up with the OEM comfor...

That is definitely the ANTI-comfort seat. Looks like a low seat to me. Good pics of the comfort seat here: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=20701.

Re: Switched Power source under seat?
There's a similar green wire (with white stripe) on the connector just aft of the diagnostic plug. It's for the alarm system and does the same thing. I'm using it to apply power to my Hyperlight flasher module with no issues. Personal preference and paranoia leads me to stay off the diagnostic plug.

I grew used to my Nolan's latching system as well and use this helmet buckle on my helmets that have D-rings. I find it very easy to use with gloved hands.ShinySideUp wrote:Strange to use D-rings again, though.

Re: Roadside Assistance
$99 for a 100 miles seems like a good deal. I was towed recently with the BMW program and had to wait over an hour and a half, but that's probably a problem with my area/time of day and not the program. The tow truck driver treated the bike very well and was willing to drop the bike at my house inst...

Re: Quiet full face Helmet
Does anyone have a suggestion as to a quiet (or less noisy) full face helmet? :?: AJ Which helmet are you using now? I have a Nolan N103 and didn't realize how loud it was until I got an HJC Sy-Max II; still not the quietest but a little better than the Nolan. I tried a friend's Schuberth C3 and it...

Re: Indicator bulbs - chrome amber
I had the silver coated bulbs on my RT and currently on the front running lights on my SLK. They do look much better with the clear lenses, but be aware they are a much darker amber and not nearly as vibrant as the stock amber coated bulbs; so much so, I don't use them in turn signals any more. I th...

Re: Kriega Bags - General Discussion
I use a US-20 on my pillion seat; I have no tail rack. It works great and so far not a drop of water has invaded the bag, even in the heaviest downpour. I like that you can easily adjust for different loads with the straps going over the top of the bag. I can't speak for using it as a tank bag- does...

Re: Panniers bags - anyone got them and are they good?
I used the Cee Bailey's on my RT and they worked great. $79 for a set. Not as well made as the BMW ones but much less expensive. I recommend bag liners when packing any pannier- much more convenient when traveling.

Check out Kriega (http://www.kriega.com/) for some expandable, waterproof, stuff-the-heck out of it luggage.I just started using a US-20 and I didn't get a drop of rain on my DSLR in today's downpour. I on the other hand was soaked. On that note, pack rain gear as well... Include booties unless you ...
