Re: Comfort seat
Does anyone know if the "strapless" seat on the 2011 bikes is the same as the comfort seat except for the grab strap? Same heights, shape? It looks more like the 2-height comfort seat than like the 3-height "uncomfortable" seat, but I think they're still offering three heights, s...

Re: The new BMW R 1200 R. The new BMW R 1200 R Classic.
Leave it to BMW to select such a conservative shade of red. I've always thought the 12R would look great in red, but I was thinking "Arrest me" red, not "Looks like an upstanding citizen so let 'im slide this time" red.

Re: Bent Wheel
Thanks, Stef. Problem is, other than this incident, I've had a good relationship with this shop that I hope can continue. I might be able to force them to replace the rim, but if fixing the old one really is a reasonable possibility from both a safety and cosmetic standpoint, then making them give m...

Re: Bent Wheel
Thanks, Don. They have agreed to pay for the wheel guy, I assume in order to avoid paying for a new wheel. As long as the wheel is safe, I don't mind a fix rather than a replacement, but this whole thing is a PITA. And now the bike will be off the road for another couple of days with great weather i...

Bent Wheel
I took my rear wheel into a local shop (that I've had success with in the past) to get a new tire mounted. When I picked it up the tire was installed backward and the wheel was bent, as if they had used excessive force with a tire iron. It was a slight but clear bulge about an inch long on the edge ...

Re: Whre do you sit in the saddle?
+1 for preferring to sit near the tank. When the boys start squawking I scoot to the back. About 15 minutes at a time in each position makes them both pretty tolerable.

Those look pretty nice. Wish I'd seen this before I shelled out for the Barkbusters Storms last month.

Re: Hello from SoCal!
Tom, you might also check your throttle free-play. When I picked up my used '07 the throttle had way too much free-play. I adjusted it to a bare minimum and it really improved the on-off throttle transitions. Is this an easy thing to do? Pretty much intuitive? Yeah, it's easy. On the throttle cable...

Exactly the right part
A couple weeks ago I went for a ride with a guy who's got a pretty fast bike, but for some reason he was having trouble keeping up. Then I found out that Bike Bandit sells just what he needs: part number 7860802-001 ...and the price is really reasonable too! BMW really does offer a wide va...

Re: Tank Bag of Choice
Sean, Thanks, that definitely helps. The magnetic tankbag I'm using now leaves fine scratches that buff out, but I was hoping the Bags Connection system could solve that. Sounds like the Daypack model might be the way to go, and it looks big enough for me. I guess I'd have to get used to the ring to...

Re: Tank Bag of Choice
I have the Bags Connection 'Quick Lock' City bag from SW Motech . Seamus, does the City bag make any contact with the tank at all, say even over hard bumps? Also, how bad does the ring connector look when the bag isn't attached? I like the Quick-Lock concept, but these are the questions that keep m...
