Re: Best place to sell my 2010 R1200R?

Why the sale ? Got another bike in the picture ? Repent !! You have the most versatile bike made right now .. =D> I am in Colorado right now, and can report that I have run across five RR's loaded for touring in a couple of spots. Several of the owners said they absolutely love the bike. (Like we d...

Re: Best place to sell my 2010 R1200R?

I was very sorry to read this. I've come to appreciate your posts on this forum very much. I kept hoping I would run into you up at Hell's Kitchen sometime. I'm taking the liberty of forwarding the Trader link to our local club. Hope the sale turns out well for you. Dave Thanks Dave, I appreciate it.

Best place to sell my 2010 R1200R?

I have decided to sell my beloved 2010 R1200R with 4500 miles on it - what are the member's experience's regarding the best places to sell? - I have it in Cycle Trader at the moment, but am trying to avoid ebay (always seems to result in lowest selling price). I have posted it in the "for sale&...

Re: WHY DOES ABS MATTER ?

Coming from a 4 wheeled performance car background, it amazes me that riders (on non-linked braking systems) are expected to precisely modulate the rear brake lever with their booted foot in perfect (and ever changing) harmony (due to bike and rider weight transfer) with the front brake which happen...

Re: Has anyone swapped the hand levers?

I found a few issues when I was thinking of changing out my levers 1/ The nylon nut is not sold by BMW (I always replace them), the fiche p/n is for a plain nut and these special nylon nuts have extra deep threads. Since its a critical application, I always like to replace these prevailing torque nu...

Re: Painted Side-Cases or Panniers

One thing to keep in mind is that the black ones are textured - its possible that a lot of pre-painting prep could be needed to get a smooth painted gloss finish (or a lot of paint, but that would make them easy to chip).

Re: so, i'm riiding around in a cut off sweat shirt...

This is about the only exclusive R1200R forum around - off topic posts will ruin it. I am sure the original poster had good intentions, but this post belongs in the off-topic forum. The forum structure is the very thing that makes it useful, otherwise I could Google R1200R and pick through the mess ...

Re: Engine temperature and synthetic

I wonder then, if not having a cylinder head temp sensor on the right side exposes the engine to any damage scenario due to a right side overheat (injector clogged, causing a lean burn - etc). Maybe the non-OBC models have a right side for the gauge, with a left for the ECU?

Re: Engine temperature and synthetic

Yep, I should have noticed the tiny nib from the bottom of the RealOem #7 that would have given it away as a temp sensor - sure looks just like the #4 oil sensor other than that. So the Cylinder head temp sensor must be for the Engine Control Unit, with the oil temp sensor in your diagram feeding th...

Re: Engine temperature and synthetic

#9 (in my 2nd image below) is the temp sensor (#6 in the RealOEM listing) located in the left head only (right head has a bare threaded blind hole), Since it just threads into a dry metal hole it could only be Cylinder head temp. #7 in the RealOEM listing is the oil pressure sensor located on the le...

Re: Clunk!

Keep in mind that all the clunking, driveline backlash and clutch smells are present on all separate gearbox, shaftdrive, dry clutch manual transmission automobiles as well, but we are not sitting on top of the naked drivetrain to hear and smell them. I once had the shift cover off my (at the time) ...

Re: Fender Extender and LED Taillight

My dealer insists that only the old-style non-canbus supplemental brake light can be used on the R1200R - it looks the same as the Canbus type, but uses a square old-style plug and includes the harness. They tried to make the canbus version work with any of the 5 separate harnesses with no luck - it...

Re: Front Wheel Vibration ?

Have them put a runout dial indicator on both rotors and both edges of the rim while its on the bike, then remove the wheel/tire and rebalance - the front balance tolerance is very tight. Check for a scalloped/unevenly worn front tire. Finally, check all fasteners. I have a 2010 R1200R and never fee...

88 ft-lbs of torque (DOHC) will move 750 lbs the same way that 85 (High Cam) will move 725 lbs (Wet R1200R + rider + light luggage), each ft-lb is worth about 8 lb in weight on the R1200R. Air temperature, fuel quality and any number of things could swing either engine towards feeling better on any ...

Re: Intro and thoughts on R12R vs MTS (Ducati in general)

The Sept 2010 issue of MC news tested the Multistrada 1200S and was pretty critical of it. The ABS was terrible, increasing the stopping distances from 114 (ABS off) to 158 feet (ABS on) from 60 mph. The fuel injection metering was found to hesitate and surge below 4000 rpm. Sounds like a good conce...

Re: Anyone had a high-speed wobble at 80+ mph?

Here is the diagonal ridge - you can see the darkened area from years of cars/trucks compressing their suspensions in this area and releasing any oil about to drip ahead of it. I was in the center of the lane. Now that I see the area, hitting that dark spot at 80+ mph cannot be a good thing.... http...

Re: Anyone had a high-speed wobble at 80+ mph?

I have just the Wudo Windshield which is much lighter than the previous CB 20". I did try to move the fork quickly while on the centerstand and during quick movements you can feel the resistance and hear the damper working. The Metzler Z6 seems to have a tire life as low as 4000 miles, together...
