Re: Suburban machinery install question
Thanks! There was a nice loop of extra wire tied up behind the side panel.

Suburban machinery install question
I've run into a snag right off the bat installing the peg lowering kit. My usual MO. There's virtually no slack in the brake switch wire. So I can't drop the footpeg assembly more than about a 1/2 inch. Any tips from those who've done this successfully? Did you splice the wire? Am I missing somethin...

Re: Booster Plug
Difference was immediate and dramatic. The surge or on/off I experienced in 1st and 2nd gear is gone. Same for the engine braking being more subtle and not so dramatic now. Roll on the throttle and it works like you'd expect, not on/off, just a regular roll on of power. I finally installed my group...

Re: In deep...with Corbin seat
My (similar) technique:
1. As Bob said, insert the key and preload it.
2. Tap the back of the seat downward with your hand.
3. With each tap, you should feel the key turn a little bit.
It's second nature to me at this point. You could use slightly thicker washers to make it easier.

Was I imagining it or could you hear him scraping cars?
I've seen a few of these before but this one really is something else.

Interesting stuff. Good description of a slice of life I probably will never experience.
Quite a contrast to the dearth of 1200R's here.

Re: Oh oh. Horn. Horn! HORN!!!! Where's the #$%@ horn button??!!
Oh I was evading all right. On the freakin' shoulder. But it wouldn't have been necessary if I'd just given a little warning beep. That's what it's for---correcting little traffic miscues before they get out of hand. I like the idea of riding the button in traffic. Will try to internalize that a bit...

Oh oh. Horn. Horn! HORN!!!! Where's the #$%@ horn button??!!
Well, I was wondering how it would go down and it went worse than expected. I was cruising along in the left lane of a two lane, 45 mph limit highway. Car to my right starts drifting over. Instant reaction---quick horn beep. But I can't find the button! I'm used the the big ole Harley horn button---...

Re: aerostich vs motoport
Decision made!
First ride today in my unbelievably bright blue Darien jacket.
Pants will arrive in a couple weeks after alterations.
In the end, everything is a series of compromises and the
aerostich stuff has the right compromises for me.
Thanks for the friendly advice.

Re: Soar shoulders
Was your test drive at low speeds? My shoulders/arms/wrists get a little sore at low speeds because there's no wind pressure to relieve the forward lean. Once a get up to highway speeds the wind magically makes the riding position just about perfect. Just a thought... By way of comparison, I'm 6' 17...

Re: Proud R1200R Owner
Welcome. And congrats on the 'new' bike. Interesting that you tried the fz6r first. That's one of the few other bikes I was interested in. In the end I thought it would probably carry too much revs at cruising speed and end up vibrating more than I'd like Looks like you confirmed my suspicions. MCN ...

Corbin report
Thought I'd share my Corbin experience... Ordered: 7/28 Arrived: 8/6 Packaging: Giant box (wouldn't fit in Camry trunk). Extremely well packed with form-fitting foam chunks (I don't know what that stuff is called. The seat is in a clear plastic bag. Nice touch-I was about to get my knife to open the...

Re: Nice ride today
I'm jealous. I checked out Lobathol road via the wonder of google maps. Sweet.
I have over an hour of boring freeway to get to anything approaching a decent corner.
Sounds like a good day. Especially since you got the chance to chat up some friendly folks.
It is one of the joys of the sport.

Thanks again for the thoughtful responses!
Still thinking....danger of analysis paralysis...
In the meantime, I'm sweltering in an lined unvented black leather jacket and black helmet.
Kinda makes that kevlar mesh sound pretty good.

I'd be leery about it. Just a bad feeling. Could be completely wrong.
If you can swing a new one you'd be getting a 3-year warranty. The peace of mind means
something, especially if you've been burned before on used.

Re: aerostich vs motoport
Thanks for the responses. This is one of those cases where there's an easy answer (ride to D-town and get the Darien gear) and the right answer (try to figure out the sizing and wait for weeks for the Motoport stuff). There's a Darien light jacket on CL here that might be just the ticket while I wai...
