Re: What IS or ARE the solution(s) to increase power engine

Unless you're a professional rider, you can't ride this bike as fast as it will go. At the Triumph demo day I went to, the guy from Triumph that led the group demo rides is a professional rider. He was on a Bonneville...not the most scintillating power/weight ratio machine around. I was on a Speed T...

Re: So if not the R1200R, then WHAT?

Went to a Triumph demo day on Friday. Rode the Street Triple. Holy cow, is that motor amazing! I had no idea something could be that smooth, yet still visceral. I was so impressed with that, I then rode the Speed Triple. I don't even know what to say. It's almost beyond comprehension. It would be ex...

Re: Intro of Wilma my white R1200R.

Sugar. I am six feet tall and didn't think I had the low seat and my invoice says standard seat but this was a demo bike so who knows if someone swapped a seat? Is there a way to tell which seat I have? Maybe a marking under the seat? Thanks Actually, that is probably a standard height. The low doe...

Re: My new Parabellum Scout will be here in 2 weeks

Does anyone want to take a stab at answering Contramoto's question of rating the comfort, wind effect etc. of the Scout? If the RT is a ten where do you guys think the Scout makes this machine. .... Now that a few months have gone by, I can answer my own question! The Scout gives 100% of the head/t...

Re: My new Parabellum Scout will be here in 2 weeks

Anyone know if Aeroflow intends to make a set-up for the R12R as they did for the R1150R? I don't have any intention of trading my R1150R equipped with Aeroflow (and am avoiding an R12R test ride for this reason), but I refuse to buy a bike that Aeroflow cannot outfit. It's just that good on my 115...

Re: Intro of Wilma my white R1200R.

Nice that it has a comfort seat instead of the stock discomfort seat. I'm wondering if it was the touring special edition with the side cases removed, since that came with the comfort seat? That's a standard seat, not the special "comfort" seat. Different tail section; different material....

White is very, very nice. I was looking for white or black with stripes...found the latter first.

Congrats, and keep her locked up!

Re: Today Is My R's First Birthday

20k miles! Wow!

The most I've ever driven in a year (car+bike combined) is about 12K. I've averaged about 8k/yr for the past five years. That'll probably rise since I now hop on the R for pointless rides to nowhere and back.

Just doing my best to have Peak Oil Day arrive quicker.

Re: Rider down, sad but ironic

....your family might as well be on the back of the bike with you... you're never alone when it comes to painful consequences. That's what ultimately convinced Pete Wilson (R), former Gov. of CA, to finally sign the helmet law. He was presented with the tens of millions of dollars it was costing CA...

Re: In need of some wind protection? My Plan worked!

Excellent outcome! I, too, thought the RT was just too much. The R provides a platform to make it our own. Naked, windscreen, fairing, .... to each his own and it's all good.

Well done.

Re: Lowered Handlebars

Thanks for the heads-up. I always assumed "a miss is as good as a mile", but apparently the fork stops are not bulletproof. Does anyone know more about how much they can be trusted? For that matter, where the heck are they?? I can't seem to see them, but they must be up under the steering...

Re: BMW for my wife.

At my MSF course, a 40-ish lady was the best student there. She could ride that bike in figure-eights at full lock and never wobble. She was going through cones so quick and smooth she looked like the instructors. She had already bought a small Shadow because she wanted to be able to easily flat-foo...

Traffic makes the air bumpy, no doubt. I test on the freeway since I can ride 80mph safely, but it's always messy air. To and from the freeway I ride on empty backroads and can ride 50-60mph. MUCH smoother.

Re: More screen experimentation...

And another thing - why do raindrops get blown down my visor (rarely since rain stops play!) whereas bugs get blown over the top? Also, what effect does air temperature and humidity have on aerodynamics? On a ride to-day there seemed to be more wind noise on my outward journey, but less on return w...

Re: More screen experimentation...

I think one thing you missed is the angle of the screen also has another effect - the "tumbling" off the top of the screen is reduced when the screen is tilted back. Yes, I quite agree. The screen needs to be at least flatter than the fork rake, and the flatter the better. The double bene...

Re: More screen experimentation...

Here's my take on screens, reached after spending far too many hours experimenting, riding, fabricating and reading. I've also visited with Mark from CalSci and Paige from Aeroflow. BTW -- Paige understands windflow on a motorcycle on a surprisingly subtle level. Very thoughtful guy; an artist by tr...
