Re: Corbin seat - about to pull the trigger

I just got my seat today. Unboxed it and is one good looking piece of work. I will post pictures tomorrow. I do have one problem though. It fits very nice and snug but the seat latch won't catch. I've tried sitting on it both driver and passenger positions, leaning on it, dropping it in quickly but ...

Re: Software Update

I had the software update with my 6k service. HUGE difference. The sound had a touch more growl to me and I agree it was more precise. Throttle response was dead on.

My seat did not become a major issue until after 6k. Good luck, I hope yours holds out.

Re: Corbin seat - about to pull the trigger

They didn't ask about what height I wanted. But they did take my inseam, height and weight to customize the seat.

Re: Corbin seat - about to pull the trigger

I pulled the trigger and ordered it today. Corbin estimates no more than 5 weeks to my doorstep. Now I wait. I went with black carbon fiber leather with black carbon fiber vinyl sides and black stitching. No piping or other colors. I wanted to look as stock as possible. Corbin recommended the stitch...

Re: Corbin seat - about to pull the trigger

I just got off the phone with Corbin. They confirmed that the back rest for the R1200R is independent of the luggage rack and can be ordered (separately). At this time they do not have any seats in stock so regardless of the material requested it is a 4 week turn around time. Just going to ponder th...

Re: Corbin seat - about to pull the trigger

... 1) My experience with Corbin was excellent. Exactly what i expect when i spend upwards of $1500 2) Seats were heavy duty, well made and had that 'lovely' smell of new quality leather 3) They were a bit hard - BUT i never had the chance to properly break them in as i just could not get along wit...

Re: Corbin seat - about to pull the trigger

I will most definitely post a running commentary to share my Corbin experience and then ultimately pictures. My first concern was that that seat does not come flush with the rear of the bike as the stock seat does. However, this is probably the major contributing factor to SO issues. I'll keep you a...

Corbin seat - about to pull the trigger

Just came back from a ride this Saturday. Not only is the SO soar as can be, now I'm finding the seat unbearable too. I've had it and about ready to drop some coin to give my bum a comfy place to sit while I enjoy the roads on my favorite moto. I've been battling with this decision for a while, watc...

Re: Hello from another newbie

I also thought the seat was more than acceptable. However, half way through my second season I'm finding it worse and worse. It is absolutely unbearable for my passenger and she is an absolute trooper. I'm going to bite the bullet and I think I'm leaning towards a Corbin so I have the option of the ...

I have three orange streaks from some type of fluid on my drive shaft. It doesn't seem to come off with normal soap. Wondering if this is splatter from a recall leak when I was riding. Will have to look

Re: What accessories are must haves on your 1200R?

Another issue with the ESA, is I believe you can not upgrade to Ohlins, as the ESA is connected directly to the factory suspension. Ithought Iread in one of the threads that you can send out your ESA component and they will fit Ohlins into it. I remember because I was considering it after I finishe...

Re: What accessories are must haves on your 1200R?

A question about ESA? I ride alone always - do I really need ESA - I tried it out but it didn't seem to make a huge difference on the demo rides I did on the R. I can see the value if I was riding two up - but it's just me, myself and I on the bike. TG I have the ESA. LOVE IT!!!!!! There are two as...

Re: Beating a dead horse! R vs. RT

Well this is exactly the debate going around my kitchen table. My husband and I both own F800STs which we dislike - riding position, engine, the works. Our punishment for buying a bike without riding it. We were so excited by the reviews and the fact that we would have had a long wait if we insiste...

Re: Beating a dead horse! R vs. RT

I had a 2000 R1100RT so I cannot comment on the new R's performance. Side note: I liked the curves of the previous body better. Anyway, when I had the RT I truly loved it for long distance traveling. However, whenevere I arrived at excellent back roads I yearned for something leaner. I did a cross c...

Re: What accessories are must haves on your 1200R?

My riding style My dream day is 7am to 7pm, twisties, casual straightaways and agressive turns. The biggest joy in riding for me is the lean. The open air, the rush and all the other goodies are perks. I play hooky on Fridays fairly often during the spring, summer and fall when the weekend is predi...

Re: Brake recall

Just got my bike out of the 6k service. No brake line recall.
There was an upgrade to the valve sensors or something to address the clicking when opening up the throttle. I will post with an update when I get my receipt out of my car.

Re: The "bike"

Congrats on your new purchase and your new found lean angles. Probably just feel more comfortable on this bike. Like was said before, even if it only feels that way, it doesn't matter. Now onto the important part: WHERE IS THAT ROAD? And you live nearby? Wow, lucky you. It takes me about an hour to ...
