Re: Swingarm Pivot Point Cover

Chris, I have the Hornig pieces along with a few of their other bits. I also got my Remus through them and a windscreen that I have since sold. Great to deal with and excellent shipping - order direct from them and the shipping to me in Canada was comparable to getting parts from the US.

I dig the Speed Trip as well but comparing to the R12 is really apples and oranges.

Re: The dreaded test ride

You bought the bike because the sales gal had big boobs? Wait till that story gets around to your significant other. [-X

Whatever the reason, congrats on the purchase...you're gonna love the new bike.

Looking good Bill. I like the spot that you mounted the gerbings controller - the pic info indicates that Don's site has info on this...couldn't find it on Don's website, do you have a url to the specific page?
Thanks

Get the R12R and keep the Harley too! You will love either of the BMW's but I guarantee you WILL miss the Harley too, whatever the model.

You can order direct from Marker Machine. I have the black with the machined grooves and am very happy with the product. Sorry I can't post pics as the bike is at my other place in BC.

San Diego info and recommendations

I'll be in San Diego for a few days in early March on business but am taking my wife as I will be staying over a weekend as well. Never been there before but hear it is beautiful. We are flying into Palm Springs and driving from there as we could get direct flights into and out of Palm Springs. Look...

Interesting.. from Nippy Normans - http://www.nippynormans.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HUG-R1200R-BK&variation=&aitem=21&mitem=76 - "THIS PRODUCT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR EXPORT OUT OF EUROPE" Hornig only lists one - for the R1200GS. I found others, but most are CF, and out of my price...

Both the carbon and plastic ones have been available for quite a while. Do a search - Hornig or NippyNormans should have them among others.

I like the looks of those better than the BMW cases. Not sure about the top box rack thingy though.

The Cascade Extreme jacket uses 6.4 amps. The G3 gloves use 2.2 amps. That is a total of 8.6 amps. What is the limit that the controller allows? I don't know that anyone really knows - but rumor has it 5A. Wouldn't be all that hard to measure if we had a great big rheostat to use as a variable load...

There is an accessory socket on the left side, but the gloves and jacket are going to be too much of an amp draw for this. I just wired the harness that comes with any Gerbing directly to the battery. I leave the plug under the seat and just hang it out the under the edge of the seat when I need it...

Re: It's Like Christmas Every Day

I just went outside to grab the paper and took a nice, long look at my R1200R. Man, that bike is like Christmas every day. Happy holidays, y'all. Merry Christmas Allan. Unfortunately we have two feet of snow here and to top things off, the R12R is sitting in the garage at the other house 800kms awa...

Ram Mounts

Click on the 276C model number for a number of different options. Instead of the handlebar ball mount that I use for the Nuvi 360, they also have a number of balls with studs that may well fit as replacement bolts in a couple of locations.
