Re: weight with passenger
I was alluding to the capability of the bike carrying some mass, at high ambient temperatures, at highway speeds, without problems. I have carried passengers that I know took me over the MaxGVW, before and after the new shocks, usually on short rides not two up touring. Having the stiffer springs in...

Re: weight with passenger
Hi! I'm in the 185cm/145kg (6'0.5"/320lb) class myself and have ridden Arizona from B.C., in the summer (45'C/114'F), with an extra 25kg of gear with no problems whatsoever. (about 6500km/4000miles) So two up w/gear should be do-able. On the suspension side, some years ago I had EPM Performance...

Re: In search of a Low Seat
She can reach the ground (both sides) with this seat, but can't flat foot it. There are HyperPro ESA shocks at the standard height already on board. Would be very pricey to go to a lowered shock and keep the ESA. So I think it's going to be best for her to have the current seat modified. She lives o...

Re: In search of a Low Seat
May have to go that route. I don't have anyone local, but I know there's one or two around where my sister lives.
I let go my original high seat a few years back, would have been able to use its pan for a custom seat, but it's under somebody else's bum now!

In search of a Low Seat
Hi Folks! I'm planning to pass my '07 R1200R on to my sister next spring. Unfortunately her inseam is a tad shorter than mine. The bike has the BMW High Comfort Seat on it now, but I'm on the search for a low seat for the machine. I've checked Beemer Boneyard and they don't have any in stock at the ...

Re: 2014 R1200R Dark White
Ah!
Yup, no battery, no startee!
I did manage, once, to get my K75 started, rolling down a hill, but there was still some battery left. I could hear the fuel pump come to pressure but there wasn't enough to crank the engine.
All my other bikes had start levers!

Re: 2014 R1200R Dark White
The older bikes you could jump start them but not the new bikes with computers. Thanks Roger L I ride a fast (black w/pinstripes) 2007 and had the embarrassing moment of leaving the key on, while going for lunch, and not noticing the headlight and driving lights were all on. There was a little batt...

Re: ESA suspension upgrade ?.
Hi John, I ride a 2007 R1200R with ESA and upgraded to HyperPro shocks in 2012. They need the ESA parts from your current shocks and then build a set tailored for you. I had the work done through EPM Performance Imports (http://www.epmperf.com). Yeah, pricey. It was about USD 1500 for the conversion...

Being as I'm an obese, hypertensive, diabetic, I too wear a Medic-Alert necklace. I also have, on that chain, a small USB drive with PDF files with documents containing current meds, emergency contact/next of kin and scans of passport, health/dental insurance cards, credit cards, drivers license, bi...

Re: Any one notified of Fuel Pump Flange Recall yet?
I'm going to have to go with Kevin on this one. I just received my notification yesterday. I purchased my bike in Ontario and currently live in BC. No specifics other than that the fuel pump flange will be inspected and, if it is within tolerance (not stated) it will be reinforced, and if there are ...

Re: Insurance for Foreign Nationals
I've no previous experience with this, but would also suggest talking with your own insurance broker/company and see if they would extend your coverage for a more reasonable price and/or have a suggestion for a U.S. or Canadian provider. In Canada vehicle insurance is regulated at the Provincial lev...

Re: BMW system 6 helmet
One item to note with the System 6, is keeping the sun visor clean. If you don't use it for a while you don't notice that a layer of dust and crud builds up on it, so I've developed the habit of making sure it's clean during morning saddle-up routines.
Enjoy

Re: Driving on mountain roads
I love this discussion! It does demonstrate the versatility of the bike and the wide range of riders who ride it! :D I live at the south end of BC Hwy-3A between Creston and Kootenay Landing, along Kootenay Lake. It is about 80km of twisties and the local Mecca of motorcyclists. The southern half is...

Re: BMW system 6 helmet
Kyle- Last summer I came down Rt93, then Rt95 thru Yahk on my way back to the states. That must be in your back yard. A beautiful part of the world (and great motorcycle country), your a lucky man to live there. Yup! You missed Creston by about 12 minutes! We're just north of the next border crossi...

Re: BMW system 6 helmet
I went from a Shuberth C1 to a System 6 and I like the fit of each. I'm up in the 64/65cm size (XXXL) and have a hard time finding helmets to fit the size and shape of my noggin. The Suberth and the System 6 both fit nicely. The wearing of glasses is also a consideration! :) Getting and replacing sh...

Well, that took all the fun out of it! No explosives.... No power tools.... Didn't even grab a Torx to take of the hinges... Re: How do I break in to my saddlebags?
If the key is in the bag, how come you managed to lock it?! Welllll..... Had it in my hand and was stuffing things in around the edge and may have dropped it without noticing then closed the latch. With the lock already in the "lock" position. Not my smartest move! When this is resolved, ...

Thanks Joe!

I was thinking that BF&I wasn't, really, the way to go, unless I want to buy new bags.
