Have anyone found cheaper replacement for turning indicators
I went to the BMW dealership and they're quoting me $80 for ONE damn signal light.

Re: New to Beemers & Just bought a Rockster, Just wondered......
fnflman - I've never really noticed a flat spot at 4,500..... Look at the tach when you rev the bike up through the gears. There will be a lag around high 4000RPM, you can see the needle sweeping up really fast then it's delayed a bit then sweep fast again. And you can tell by the way the bike's lu...

Re: Broken Rock
And the last of the original white signal light just broke off mine. Apparently the white ones had some sort of manufacturing quality issue and tend to break off due to vibration. I've replaced them as they broke off with amber signal lights. For the last several thousand miles, I've had three amber...

Re: New to Beemers & Just bought a Rockster, Just wondered......
The bike pulls pretty well at low RPM. Great for meandering around at low speed...except for that heavy steering feel. But once you get up to speed, get to the 5000RPM plus range because there is a big, fat flat spot right smack dab in the mid-range at just around 4500-RPM. A tuned Power Commander w...

Re: Sargent seat on the Rockster
I also have a Sargent seat for the Rockster. I think that the foam they use is brilliant but the design doesn't help me much. I'm short (5ft6) and the wider than stock seat makes my legs splay out even more thus rendering me tippy toeing at stops. Also the seat design is such that it makes me slide ...

Re: Broken Rock
Same problem with mine and it's a high chance that the spline was the issue. At least yours blew while you were in warranty. Mine went at around 29,000-miles. This Rockster is the last BMW that I will ever own. None of the newer models have shown any improvements in quality, if anything BMW is hell ...

Re: Rockster (R1150R) maintenance
Regardless of doing it yourself or take it to the dealership, for a bike that old that had been sitting around unused for that long? I'd inspect a lot more than just changing the fluids. Rubber seals and gaskets may be dry rotted by now. Tires are probably cold and set and stiff as a board. How abou...

Re: Newbie Question...
The flat spot has nothing to do with the throttlebody synchronization. It's there because of the way BMW tuned the fuel injection mapping and the only way to get rid of it is to get a Power Commander and put it on a dyno, or maybe a ZTechnik chip or some sort of similar device that changes the fuel ...

Do what MikeCam suggested. The bike had been sitting without running for way too long. Who knows what had been deteriorated.

Re: Power Commander available? stupid? comments please...
Yes, there's a PCIII for the Rockster/R1150R. I've had it in mine for a while now. Not too hard to install. The unit ends up in the tail. You can tune it for either performance or mileage but not both. Go faster and accelerate harder require more gas. And no, playing with it on the computer doesn't ...

Re: Slipping Clutch
That's definitely clutch slippage right there.
Mine did that a few times before it went kaputs. Turned out that the spline teeth were all chewed up.

Re: How to tell the bike has ABS
kkr, I don't know if you already have a trickle charger (Battery Tender, Optimate, et al), if you do then put it to use religiously on that Rockster, and if you don't then DO spend the money for one. I don't know if your bike still has an original battery or had a recent replacement, but if you were...

Re: Second thoughts...
With all due respect, the heart doesn't know what it wants. You can't simply buy a bike just because it looks good. Well, yes, you can, if you're a poseur. A bike not only has to have visual appeals to the owner, but also rideable for the owner. The lady had only ridden the Ninja 250 and nothing els...

Re: Second thoughts...
Need some help, guys. You were all so great on my first query- now I just need a little convincing (or deterring!). So, the Rockster is poised to be mine- I have $250 down on it to hold it until next weekend, when we'll be picking it up. I went up to do a test ride last Saturday, so of course natur...

I'm sure that there are still Ohlins stocked up in a warehouse somewhere. If not then Penske or WP or Wilber or Works Performance will do just fine.

Re: MUST do mods
The popping could be from exhaust leak at the Y-pipe, or it could be that the fuel/air ratio needs to be adjusted (most of the time it's the latter). Have your bike taken to a shop that has a gas analyzer for the exhaust and adjust the fuel/air ratio until the popping goes away. Mine was like that u...

Re: Is this bike worth it?
Hey guys, I'm brand spankin' new to the forums, and thought I'd stop in and ask you all a question. I currently ride a Kawasaki Ninja 250, which I love to death but am looking to replace with something a little larger and more powerful. My husband and I were at a BMW/Triumph dealership to pick up h...

Re: Clutch repair - ouch!!
I'm still waiting to hear back from BMW........... so not holding out much hope. So how does BMW explain it all away? Of course if you don't use your bike then there is no problem! Don't hold out for too much hope. Even with all the final drive failures on brand new R1200-series, they still don't a...

Re: Clutch repair - ouch!!
According to BMW, we are all mistaken. There is no clutch spline issues. Even though mine destroyed itself. But there is no clutch spline issue. ACHTUNG!!!
I am fairly certain that this is my last BMW motorcycle.

Re: Ohlins Fodder for the Shock Discussion
Well, I got a bit of a bad news for my Ohlins front. The damn thing busted a seal and leaked all the fluid out. I'm going to have to yank it off and send it to Ohlins to see what the heck happened. This shock has less than 3000-miles on it, that's for sure.
