Just finished a long overdue list on my 2003 R1150R. Owned since 2004, only 46K (embarrassing). New clutch (longer spline version), input shaft spline inspection/lube (no wearing issues!), replaced the clutch slave cylinder (it was crusty but not failing), re-wrapped all the wiring since the factory...

I run zTechnik exhaust (I think it's discontinued for the r1150r) that came with a cat eliminating y-pipe. In my case: a)Runs awesome, b) sounds awesome, c) I dunno, I guess I need something to feel bad about when revving my sweet sounding 1150r.

Could be the cam chain tensioner. The stock one rattles until things are warmed up. Job isn't too difficult. I replaced mine following this guys instructions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOT_eyNp9Y8. This is where I bought the replacement: http://rubberchickenracinggarage.com/chain.html

The Rubber Chicken tensioner was installed. No more rattle at idle. I've had good experience with beemerboneyard as well. I used a bent paper clip to fish out the original, it went well. Check out sites for the Lake Superior (and other Great Lakes) Circle Tour. You'll want to have your spots picked out when on the Canadian side of Lake Superior - Some of the campgrounds up there don't have places to eat near them...pack some food. Bring some good maps but forget the GPS. Locals are ...
