Re: Deisel Motor oil?
Rotella is rated with both gasoline and diesel ratings and is fully suitable for your bike. There are two Rotellaa the T5 (15W-40 Mineral oil), and the T6 (5W-40 full Synthetic). Both are one of the highest quality oils in their respective class, and have been used in BMW oilheads, and hexheads with...

The wire spoke wheel on the R1100's DO NOT require tubes They work just fine, and require Tubeless tires.

It's resonance in the handlebars Get some of the heavier bar-end-weights from Manic Salamander, and it will go away completely

Re: LiFePo4 battery
A few people over here in the US have been trying Shorai Lithium Ion battery packs. Racers are unequivocally delighted with the weight saving, and find performance completely satisfactory. On the road users report mixed levels of satisfaction, for two reasons. This type of battery is very temperatur...

Re: Caught in the rain on a trip, what do you do?
Biggest problem for me is keeping visor clear, especially now I am a spectacle wearer. Sometimes get caught in a situation where I need to go faster to keep rain off. Turning head from side to side sometimes helps. How about the various coatings? Rain X etc? Anyone tried these with success? I belie...

Re: Headlight bulb upgrade?
You need a relay wiring harness for the headlight, and then a Hella 80W/100W H4 headlight bulb from Amazon. Eastern Beaver does a really good harness.

Re: R1100R fuel tank capacity
Ok, so I'm very light on the throttle :D 90 is my average around here I would say, I prefer back roads instead of autoroute.. Even then, I only do 100kph (62mph) on the autoroute as the vibrations above 4000 rpm seem a bit worrying (maybe my ignorance at what the motor can actually do) Your engine ...

Re: My GOSH what a difference a gear makes!
You are doing yourself no real favor by avoiding learning proper clutch control. It is an essential skill, you will need. There isn't any road bike that cannot be ridden through that test, with the skill that will keep you safe and uninjured in heavy traffic. If you continue to avoid learning any sk...

I use that exact bulb on my R1100R.
Superb light output.
Not a lick of trouble.
It's lasted three years so far.

Re: Oil Change
My Clymer manual says the engine oil and filter should be replaced every 6,000 miles. I have never driven any vehicle that far between oil changes. I am running synthetic Redline 20-50W. Any advice on how often I should be changing oil and filter? Then you've wasted a whole lot of expensive oil... ...

You should be riding mostly at 4000 rpm and above. 4000 rpm is the 'relaxed cruising' rpm.

Re: Low fuel warning light question
Just got back from a vacation ride in Colorado from Boulder to Glenwood Springs and back. Of course I avoided I-70, and rode Hwy. 285 down to Buena Vista, then up and over Hwy. 82 into Aspen (spectacular ride, especially with the leaves in full color this time of year.) Normally I ride in and aroun...

Re: Cold weather warm-up time?
Start it, with the throttle advance lever pushed over. When it starts, release the lever (back to the detent). Ride off immediately, using moderate throttle. After no more than 1/4 mile, return the lever to off, and ride as you choose. This allows the gear box, and final drive, to warm up at the sam...

Oh Yeah Celticus ! its my fault... No. Ride on stays fluid, and moves itself to the 'right' ...
