Re: 12R,1150R,800GS ???

Thanks for that helpful review. I'm still debating my F8GS purchase, although posts like yours are pushing me to the dark side more every day. I'm thinking they must have the bugs worked out by now...

Re: F800GS Opinion

Hmmm. I'm actually considering trading in my R1200R for an F800GS. I'm pretty impressed with my wife's F650GS and her mileage is phenomenal. She's always got a crowd around her bike when we stop, and I'm the red headed stepchild. You and me both thinking of swapping for the GS. However, as yo...

Re: Schuberth is back on Stage !

Hell, I just bought a new Shoei RF1100 in Cali for $319. That's a good deal AFAIAC.

Schuberth's are nice and everything but not THAT nice (they actually have some on sale here (Vancouver) that are still too much money.)

Dammit, I meant to buy one of those at the rally and forgot. I don't need to use my horn much, but when I do I want it LOUD.

Re: BMW recalls over 15,000 motorcycles - Autoblog

Just wondering if most people are receiving letters regarding the recall. Anyone in Canada get one yet? I'm still waiting to hear from BMW. I went in to the dealer and asked about this (2009 model), they searched the VIN and mine is on the waiting list for parts. No letter from the fatherland as of...

We had fun too, it was a great time. I was particularly impressed with the BMW factory stunt rider whose name I have forgotten... wow, that guy is amazing! And the S1000RR is pretty sweet too... The English trials competition was very entertaining, and there were some good travel seminars - the Hack...

The only thing I may still do is lower the foot pegs, but they scrape already so I'm holding off on that one. Peter Molly you must be the man! :D I love the twisties and keep up with my buddies but I have yet to scrap the pegs. I know some other youngsters who frequent this forum have sent in troph...

Re: Autocom Installation

Have a great trip, sounds like a memorable one! I can't offer much of an answer to your question, but I can tell what works for us. We have the Cardo Scala Rider intercom set, and they work wonderfully. Perhaps in the future you may be looking for something new, and this set is one I would recommend...

Re: R1200R Long Distance Impressions

A good windscreen is mandatory for long trips IMHO (and elusive as we all know). The seat - 'nuff said. However, I am testing my ass' fortitude on the Redmond Rally trip. I bought some nice Sugoi riding shorts, and have put the Airhawk back on, so hopefully I won't regret not getting the seat done t...

Well folks, we're leaving for the Rally soon so I'll wish you all safe travels who are attending, and I hope to tip a couple and tell some lies Friday night. I will be sporting a label maker R1200R sticker to aid the cause. 8)

R1200R's demise 'greatly exaggerated' (thank you Mark Twain)

While hanging around my local dealer this morning bothering the staff (Pacific Yamaha BMW Husqvarna - good people), I was pressuring the sales manager for info about the future availability of the R12R. According to him, another R12R owner he knows happens to be the sister of a BMW factory employee,...

Re: dangerous test ride

You may be a little hard on the poor new Multi, Tarmac! After all, Multistrada means 'many ROADS', not 'OFF roads'... . In my humble opinion, it would be a killer all-rounder for most people, including regular doses of gravel roads. If you bought one of these expecting it to tackle 'A' route s...

Re: Throttle "Lock"

Personally I use a "Cramp Buster" rather than a throttle lock. Makes me feel a little more secure.

http://www.crampbuster.com/

Others here use a big "O" ring between the bar end and throttle to make holding throttle on easier.

Try them both, they're inexpensive and easy.

Re: Doers buffeting cause wobbling?

Hmmm. Don's post reminded me I never put my steering dampener back on after my last class (I removed it because I spent 2 days doing very tight technical low speed maneuvers including countless very fast lock-to-lock transitions - it was harshing my buzz, as they say.) It's been 2 months, and I've n...
