Leave it in 1st????

Here's one for Don! I am finishing up a rider course with Pacific Riding School (Vancouver Canada) and the head instructor (Mark Kruger, look him up - he's a very experienced champion road racer and professional mechanic - everyone but BMW) tells his students to leave their bikes in 1st gear all the...

Re: How Do They Do This?

If I could figure out how to do that on my R12R, I'd get all the girls... alas you need a young man's body to survive that, I think, the falling part anyway.

I like the Mount Baker Highway too, maybe I've been lucky but I found it relatively free of cages. +1 on the warning about the highway to Tofino...

Re: Are you worried ...

Well, I definitely did a lot of research before buying my R12R, and durability was one of the key reasons I bought it. If you think you're never going to have a problem, you're probably living in Narnia, but comparatively speaking I'm not concerned. BTW Chitown I spent 4 hours looking at your trip p...

Re: Rattle when W.O.T

They do, and the engine management system supposedly adjusts to suit the octane. I don't think it has the smarts to deal with really bad gas, but I am told that slightly less than premium octane is not an issue.

Re: Schuberth C3

Correct me if I'm wrong (no fear of that happening in this forum  ), but isn't the BMW System 5 helmet a Shuberth in sheep's clothing? I think I heard at our local dealer that was the case...

It's no use Gary, you've poked a stick into the biggest nest of data-wranglers I've ever encountered. Resistance is futile!

Re: Are any other seats interchangable with R1200R?

Re. the second key issue, my dealer told me that BMW has just recently begun issuing 2 keys as standard with a new purchase (plus the plastic one). I would think they'd honor this retroactively if you asked nicely...

Re: New biarritz blue

They are chrome pipes. I believe it has every option except the ESA (bummer, wanted it but didn't want to wait for it. I guess I have the enjoyment of fine tuning the suspension to my tiny frame to look forward to instead). Not liking the seat much, I have to say. Skinny ass syndrome. SW-Motech engi...

Well, if I'm not stepping on any toes, I just bought the same bike (brought it home 4 hours ago). Nice color I think!

Re: Lowered suspension - any thoughts?

Thanks for all your opinions guys, I feel like I made a really good choice with this one! Picking her up in 2 hours, ooohhh the suspense... I'll post a couple of pictures if I ever stop riding long enough. Now for the farkling... although my credit card has apparently caught fire ;) ... engine guard...

Lowered suspension - any thoughts?

Hi all... I'm new to this site, and awaiting delivery of a shiny new R1200R (blue, the fastest color I've been told). My bike has the lowered suspension kit, and I wonder if any of you have the same, and if so how you find it works? I didn't consider ordering this option initially, but as the only a...
