Re: Fuel strip victim
According to the parts fiche...the 2011 fuel strip is the same part number as the 07-10 bikes. Something's fishy with the dealer's response...CupOHemlock wrote:According to my dealer, the 2011 does not use the strip.

Want to trade seats?
I have a standard-issue high ("835mm") seat (52537706418) and a regular height ("800mm") comfort seat (52537719485).
I want a high comfort seat. Part number 52537719484 or 52537721958.
Anybody have a high comfort seat they want to sell or trade?

Re: Another Weekend of farkles
I spent most of the last day of life on Earth watching my boys play baseball. Came home to go on a ride and my helmet and jacket that I left hanging on the bike in the driveway were gone. WHAAA??? Called my wife...she had done me a "favor" by throwing them in her car so no one would steal ...

Re: Stripes or no Stripes?
My read on the stripe (you asked), I assume it's tape. Tear off the lower stripe and replace it with a single 1/4 inch white stripe run parallel to the remaining small stripe. That will closer match the stripes on the tank. The two small stripes seem lost, if your going to go, then go BOLD . ...

Re: Stripes or no Stripes?
I bought the fairing direct from Parabellum. It comes ready to install on an R1200R, and I ordered mine unpainted. It's cheaper to have them paint it (they charge $200 and I paid $300 locally), but I didn't want it painted until I had finished fiddling with the installation...in case I wanted to tri...

Re: Stripes or no Stripes?
I had a couple issues when I first installed the Scout. One was that it sat lower and farther forward than I thought best. So, I crafted a new mounting bracket. Silver is stock -- black is mine. The two close-together holes mount into the existing headlight bracket, with two bolts. The headlight the...

Re: San Francisco
Of all my miles Hwy 80 into SF has been one of my scariest rides. We call it "The Maze." Scary, indeed. I take the bike into The City on that highway a few times a year. Requires one's full attention. Best way into The City from the north is Hwy. 101. Through Marin County and across the G...

We might want him to have laid this idea to rest...but he didn't. That was my impression, too. But still...a water-cooled 1200 twin. Gotta make 150hp without even trying. What do you do with that motor, with their basic product segmentation? Ducati uses it in (a) a sport-touring bike, the Mulitstra...

Re: Performance
I bought mine used on advrider. It's the basic caliper-mount setup that comes with wiring harness (relayed) and a replacement bolt for the caliper. The bolt is longer so that the light sits on the top bolt of the caliper. The brushed aluminum housing matches the bike nicely. I have the relay spliced...

Re: which BMW r to buy
I've had a GS (twice) and have an R now. If I had issues with a knee being too bent...I'd get a GS. With a tall seat on it, it's very, very roomy for the legs. And, yes, you can still hammer it way leaned over. It's a fine handling bike that is much more nimble that it appears. Probably why they've ...

The release seems not remotely related to the original rumor-report...simply a ban on texting/phoning/watching videos in a car. GPS viewing is still allowed...don't know what the fuss would be about. BTW -- free speech rulings in the US explicitly protect the constitutional right to share informatio...

Re: My bike consistently runs out of gas
I was headed to San Francisco to see a Giants game last Thursday (it's a ~22mi trip). I was running late. OBC said 60 miles to go. Trip computer said I'd already ridden 220 miles. Whom to trust -- miles already ridden or the computer that doesn't really know how much fuel is already in my tank? I st...

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Don't go test drive a K1200R! You will be corrupted for life. I test drove one. I twisted that throttle hard upon entering the freeway. My eyes about popped out of my head. Took the next exit and drove it back to the guy's house. Crazy freakish monster ...
