Re: Buying 2010 R1200R?

Stef, congrats on negotiating such a good deal. Like Peter (mollygrubber), I was ecstatic just to get one at msrp, so there was no hesitation signing the paperwork. It came with the tall screen, and after about 1000 miles, I couldn't stand it anymore. I much preferred riding without a windscreen. I'...

Re: It's been a long, expensive winter..........

So I brought it in the house and several coats of Krylon Gloss Black to the inside of the screen gave me the look I wanted and I would never have to worry about the paint chipping off. Forgive me for being so ignorant when it comes to painting, but how exactly did you go about painting the screen. ...

Re: It's been a long, expensive winter..........

I completely agree with the subject of this thread. Unfortunately, it's still not over for me (both winter and spending money). I bought my bike in May of 2008 and to this day, it sits in the garage 100% stock. This winter, I had finally had enough and started my list: New mirrors (from an F800GS) -...

Re: GS Handguards

Wonderful write up, Bruce! I was a little intimidated by the GS handguard installation, particularly with having to fashion and extension to one of the brackets. Your report puts my mind at ease and is very straight forward and simple to follow. I think I might attempt this to see just how big a dif...

Re: Farkle of the Year!

I just picked up a pair of the F800GS mirrors the other day at my local dealer. They had one pair in stock, apparently an older part number that's been superseded by a newer part #. I could take what was in stock for $50/mirror or pay $75/mirror for the latest part number. Looking at the mirrors the...

Re: First Ride of the year..

Beautiful pictures, toomanybikes. Thanks for supplying a fresh new background for my desktop. Peter, a DTE is the "distance to empty" indicator on the OBC. I once had my DTE down to 4 miles by accident. I was nervous as I wasn't too near a gas station. I try my best to fill up once the tri...

You guys will have to let us know how the installation goes and what the end result looks like. I'm curious as to the outcome and ease of installation.

Re: R1200R PHOT0 GALLERY

Welcome home, Talon Six. You have impeccable taste in BMW motorcycles. Matt still has 16 days left before coming home. I think these were photos taken by his dealership. Anyway, that's some determination. I thought I was crazy for ordering my bike from a catalog, but this takes the cake; purchasing...

Re: Fuel gauge

I haven't had a problem with my fuel gauge yet, but I still make it a habit of resetting trip meter at every fill up. I've had far too many faulty fuel gauges in my vehicles for me to rely on them. :smt076

Re: Modulaing headlight for R1200R

Thanks for the information regarding the headlamp modulators. I'm still a bit torn between one of these and say the photon blasters from Skene Designs. While modulators are blatantly obvious, I'm worried about safety issues with confusing other drivers. It's amazing how easily confused they can get...

Re: R1200R Being Discontinued

UPDATE: My new motorrad is in and paid for (I think I'll call it "Heike die Weissrakete" ). The dealership sent me pics and now time passage has come to a screeching halt since I won't be able to pick it up until the 29th. Can anyone host a picture for me? The gubbermint has all the photo...

Re: Things are different on a Harley

That's a good lookin' bike, Mike. Like you said, it never hurts to have a nice cruiser around for a night out on the town with the misses. Basically, that's the reason I want one. By the way, what color is that on your bike? Looks pretty good. Is it metallic, pearl, or flat?

Re: Things are different on a Harley

I want a Harley.. A classic softail deluxe or road king classic. It'll purely be a garage ornament. An expensive one, but they look damn nice. Only weighing in at 150lbs myself, I don't know if I could lug the 800+ lb beast around. Sure as hell won't be able to pick it up after dumping it. Anyway, e...

Re: Bike Week

My commute this morning was about that temp. Bill, I had my Gerbings heated liner turned on. It's pretty nippy on the highway, I don't care where you're from. Especially over long distances. Peter I agree, it doesn't really matter what climate you're used to, cold is cold. Even being from Alaska, I...
