Re: DOHC Liquid-cooled Boxer for 2012?!?

They've been saying that for years and it's never come true yet. As long as they can continue to pass emissions and noise regulations without a water jacket they'll keep them air-cooled - it's a fundamental design feature of the boxer engine and it'd be sales suicide to mess with that.

Re: The new German motorcycle - AKA Horex

OK, so at $1.49 for a British Pound, the bike is north of $29,000! Yikes! The K1200 & K1300 are both a bit lighter in torque and mass. How much is one of those? The K1200 doesn't exist any more as a new bike. The K1300S is £10,875 basic, or £13,305 in a more normal spec (ESA, ASC, ABS, heated g...

Re: The new German motorcycle - AKA Horex

They don't say anything about the price, but looking at the tech specs it won't be cheap. Motorcycle News in the UK reports today that it'll be 20,000 Euros when it goes on sale in Germany early next year - around £16,600 in the UK. So quite expensive, but then the way bike prices have risen in the...

We share the same miles with you :D . And we also both have neighbouring countries who use kilometers.

Only our (optional) computers differ, I assume, because we do not share a common gallon.

Re: The new German motorcycle - AKA Horex

Beautiful bike, probably expensive. A surprisingly low weight for a bike with that engine. Not a straight 6, though, as stated above - it's a small-angle V6 which keeps the width sensible. If it went into production and had a dealer network I could be tempted, but the technical details are a bit vag...

Re: How satisfied are you with your Dealer?

My purchase experience was not good. I've used this dealer a lot before (bought 2 used bikes and one new one, excluding the R12R, and been in regularly for parts over the last 10 years or so) and been happy but this time, much less so. They were very keen to get me on the bike for a test ride and ju...

Re: Really like this farkle but .... could a straight pipe ...?

And before I tried replacing the muffler with a shortie tip, I read of many owner's experience in the R1150 portion of the forum who have run like this for years without a problem. It's a bit dangerous to equate the 1150 to the 1200 in this respect - the 1150 has a much cruder injection control sys...

Re: So is the OEM topcase rack necessary for touring?

I guess I would believe a retailer who has to give a refund rather than a manufacturer or importer. Interesting point of view though. Perhaps 'importer' was the wrong term - they are also a retailer and stock and sell the whole range of SW Motech stuff so they, too, would be in the position of havi...

Re: So is the OEM topcase rack necessary for touring?

Or, more likely, they have had the racks returned by buyers who couldn't install them because they have the OEM side case racks. I know - you're still not convinced; those people were just incompetent. I'm convinced now I've seen deilenberger's photos. But when neither the manufacturer nor the UK i...

Re: So is the OEM topcase rack necessary for touring?

From the TwistedThrottle website: "The Alu-Rack cannot be used with the original BMW sidecase luggage mounts installed; however, the Alu-Rack can be used with SW-MOTECH Quick-Lock sidecarriers installed, which can carry Givi, Hepco-Becker, Krauser, Pelican, and Zarges sidecases." Quite ag...

Re: R1200R PHOT0 GALLERY

Greetings, all - new member here. Have owned more BMs than I can probably remember (everything from R80s through Ks to oilheads, most recently GSs) and now landed with a 1200R. 2009 model, originally the local dealer's demo bike so fully loaded with every conceivable option, most of which I wouldn't...

Re: So is the OEM topcase rack necessary for touring?

Before I reply to the thread I should probably introduce myself. After many, many years with varius GSs I bought an R a few weeks ago and am enjoying the experience so far. Hello everyone. Regarding the top case mounting I've used an SW-Motech Alurack with a Givi adapter plate to mount a huge, ugly ...
