Re: The new BMW R nineT
Is the R nine T only a one year 2014 production for the 90th birthday celebration?

Re: R1200R out of production
New water cooled R is fine with me, looking forward to seeing it and test drive. No telelever is not a deal breaker for me but linked brakes and ABS are a must.

Re: Differences between 2009 and 2013?
I took it to the dealer to find someone in the service department with educated ears. My bike is fine, no strange noise Must have been hearing things.

Re: Differences between 2009 and 2013?
The valve clearance check was done by the dealer as part of what they call a Level 1 service that gets done every 6,000mi. There was no indication beforehand that any shims needed to be replaced. I do not think it is hard to check clearance or change shims on the camheads, but I've never actually d...

Re: Differences between 2009 and 2013?
At 30,000mi my 2012 camhead R1200R Classic needed a new shim on one LHS and one RHS exhaust valve (the upper valves). The clearances were only slightly out of spec (measured at 0.42mm vs. specified range of 0.30mm - 040mm). The clearances on the other exhaust valves (the lower valves) and the inlet...

Re: Staintune Muffler for the R1200R Camhead
Yes, the camhead has the exhaust flap gizmo. I was thinking that a slip on muffler would be just about the same for both but you are right especially if Staintune is making header pipes those would be different. I hope this works out for you and the Sydney crew.

Re: Finally Upgraded to the R1200R
Congratulations on the new bike! Other than one fuel strip I've had no trouble with my 2011 r1200r. The cap by the foot peg is not missing, supposed to be that way.

Re: Staintune Muffler for the R1200R Camhead
Is it a slip on type, what would be the difference between a camhead and hexhead design?

Re: New Roadster
I still think they just have a hard time fitting the new engine on the R without removing the telelever to make room for those radiators.

Re: New Roadster
I hope the new R12R still has ABS, ASC and linked brakes. I love those features on the current R. Telelever just had to go to make room for the two radiators on the new water cooled engine, no other way to make it fit. I don't believe there is a conspiracy to get rid of telelever or any other reason...

That's crazy talk :-)MTBeemer wrote:If it is any solace, the trend in MotoGP is to have the bike dive more under hard braking. Unweights the rear and the rider can pivot the rear tire into a turn. You could be first to try it on an R12R.

Re: New Roadster
In plain language: the R12R will continue as a wethead, but without the Telelever front end. I'll need a good test drive but based on what I have read and comments about the r9t front suspension being quite good, the new motor on an R interests me a lot. Not sure how much I would miss the Telelever...

Re: New Roadster
This also puts the nail in the coffin of the R-nine-T, since they aren't going to have 3 roadsters in the lineup.. (nor will they continue making the camhead engine for one bike model.) Get your R-Nine-T now - it will be a collectable. That's what first came to mind when I read this, it replaces th...

Cool, you should post that in the r1200r thread. Looks like a water cooled R is in the works.
