I haven't named mine, but my wife calls it "your girlfriend."

Mine is named Shadowfax after the white horse Gandalf rode in Lord of the Rings. My boys 9 and 14 helped me name it :D also "orgasmatron" was taken.

Spike

My older son named it for me, and it seemed to fit.

"The BMW" here too. I've never named a vehicle. This doesn't mean I don't have an emotional connection to the bike. But, I think it comes down to a respect for my machines and what they represent -- the culture of design, intelligence of engineering, and nature of materials. Empathy is reserved for pets and people.

Damnit, Eilenberger, always one turn ahead. :D My wife was thrilled when I got home, so much so that she handed me our screaming daughter before I could get my helmet off. Had to use all my husband chips to make it to Square Root this year.

"Hank", don't know why. My Ducati is named Lola or after I crash on the track my wife started calling my Duc, that red headed devil.

Now we're talking, I call mine "new bike", not to be confused the "old bike". If we are formal its "R" and "S". And yes, our 10 year-old flame hawkfish is called fishy.

I hadn't thought of naming the bike, but I think my wife has been calling it the "the money pit." Perhaps she is a little jealous of all the packages arriving for bike. Maybe I should get her something to smooth things over, wonder how she would feel about a nice set of aluminum GS cylinder head guards? Hey, it's not like I have a mistress or anything. Speaking of mistresses a good German mistress name might be good, Heidi Fleiss? Nah.

The shape of the tank and BMW roundel location remind me of the time I was snorkeling at Blowing Rocks in Jupiter, Fl and dove down to look over a ledge and ended up looking directly in the eye (a very big eye) of a sleeping shark. A good name might be "The Grey Shark" or even better "Der Kristal-Grau Shark"

Hank, I like that. I keep thinking of a name for mine but nothing that has stuck yet.

Hildegard. She who took the Norse from the battlefield to Valhalla. This is not meant to imply you need one foot in the grave to ride an R12R!!! It's more that she takes me from the everyday grind (don't mention the war) to more glorious places.
