Greetings, all - new member here. Have owned more BMs than I can probably remember (everything from R80s through Ks to oilheads, most recently GSs) and now landed with a 1200R. 2009 model, originally the local dealer's demo bike so fully loaded with every conceivable option, most of which I wouldn't have specced if I'd been buying new, but what can you do?

I couldn't live with any of the factory colours (talk about uninspiring....apologies to those who like them - it's just my opinion) so I had the dealer get the bike sprayed lava orange which is a standard colour option on the K1300R and S and the F800GS. Colours are a matter of taste, but I love it.

Already fitted an SW Motech Alurack with Givi adapter, 1200GS handguards (didn't need the home-made bracket that most people seem to use) and a touring screen. Waiting for a comfort seat to arrive to keep the wife happy on the back. Future plans include an exhaust I can actually hear :D

Sorry, no arty settings, but here it is:

The paint looked better in the sun, but this is England.......

Nice shots Mike, I'll be near Carmel in a couple of weeks, looks like it'll be really nice!

Thanks Peter. I'm really happy with the fairing, but the only things I have to compare with are the sport shield and of course no shield. It creates a nice quite pocket of air. The airstream off the shield hits right above my visor and side-to-side it avoids my upper body. Nothing like the RT for wind protection, but for me it's been just the right balance of sport and protection. I figure them Bavarians to it just right with the R90S and I'm happy with my modern day interpretation. So far, no buyers regret with either the fairing or the comfort seat.

Hi everybody,

I'm new to BMWs and new to this forum. I purchased my 2007 R1200R at the end of last season, and am in the process of making it mine. Every time I fire it up and take it for a spin it puts a smile on my face. Here's a shot from a short ride I took today.
