Best place to sell my 2010 R1200R?

Post by blueviewlaguna »

I have decided to sell my beloved 2010 R1200R with 4500 miles on it - what are the member's experience's regarding the best places to sell? - I have it in Cycle Trader at the moment, but am trying to avoid ebay (always seems to result in lowest selling price). I have posted it in the "for sale" section on this site as well, has this been effective for members?

My experience is that when you mention selling it on the forum ................they just persuade you to keep it!

Go one , hang onto it another season. It's not even run in yet.

Trying to sell my 2010 R1200R with 1400 miles and over $2000 in add-ons on eBay with no luck for the past 3 wks. Doesnt really make too much financial sense to sell such a new bike, going to take a huge hit if I do end up selling it. Good luck!

I sold an RT this past week by listing it on BMW Sport Touring http://bmwsporttouring.com/

Just pulled the trigger on an 08' R12R,so I guess I have to change my handle :)

Also,I would try Craigslist.

Can be hard to sell a late model anything when dealers can offer incentives and such...

Cheers,Mike

+1 craigs list. If there is one place everyone checks...

Just bought a 2010 r1200r on the list and sold my ducati. Keep it there and it'll sell.

Why the sale ? Got another bike in the picture ? Repent !! You have the most versatile bike made right now .. =D>

I am in Colorado right now, and can report that I have run across five RR's loaded for touring in a couple of spots. Several of the owners said they absolutely love the bike. (Like we don't know that!)

I don't think there is such thing as the best place to sell. In my opinion, it is just a matter of price. I find you have to be aggressive on pricing if you want to sell quickly. Unfortunately, that means taking a big hit.

I just traded my 2009 GS with 5100 kilometers on it (that's 3200 miles). I got $16,500 from BMW as trade-in (that is in Canadian $). I had it on trader.ca for two weeks and all I got was two inquiries. It was advertized at $16,500 as well. By trading it in, I got the additional benefit of the tax plus I got to keep a number of aftermarket parts that I removed from the bike. Some of them I can install on the R, some of them I will sell separately.

It turned out a trade was better and more convenient than a direct sale.

I was very sorry to read this. I've come to appreciate your posts on this forum very much. I kept hoping I would run into you up at Hell's Kitchen sometime. I'm taking the liberty of forwarding the Trader link to our local club. Hope the sale turns out well for you.

Unfortunately, I have had some complications from a major Hernia surgery that forces me to stop riding.
