New Bike, Seat Question

Post by dbrick »

Hello there,

I picked up a new-to-me 2007 R1200R this afternoon. It's different from the Oilhead I've been riding for fourteen years, and I'm sure I'm going to like it.

The bike's original sticker doesn't specify the seat height; I think I remember a buyer may choose. The seller thinks this is the regular seat...but he's vertically challenged. To me, the seat feels lower than seats at the dealer I've sat on that I was told were standard. There's no BMW part # on the bottom of the pan. Pics here: http://s785.photobucket.com/albums/yy131/dbrickk/ What's the group's opinion?

The online fiche is a little confusing. I think a standard seat for this bike would be 52 53 7 706 416. Is that right?

I've learned a lot about these machines from reading here, and look forward to learning more.

First: Congratulations!! and Welcome.

Second: That is a low seat. Can tell by the length of the swoop between yours and pillions seat. The low seat is extraordinarily long.

Agreed - Low Seat

I've got the "Comfort Seat" which looks similar but there are some distinct differences.
Congrat's on the bike - it's beautiful.

cheers,
