Picked up a 2011 R1200R from Blue Moon Cycles a week ago -- had to ride this weekend to get to the 600 mile service.

Here's a recent photo when I took the Roadster for a short ride in the nearby mountains last week with my favorite girl on back.
Nancy's not able to ride her own bike right now with a broken foot, but was itching to go for a ride now that she could get a boot on. (and why she didn't get off the bike without crutches).
It had been a long time since I rode the R, passing it up for the might GS or younger sexy cousin the F800R regularly.
I was even seriously considering selling it to buy a new Husaberg FE570, but after this reminder of how great this bike rides there will be none of that nonsense going on.... might need some big changes though as my paint is all scratched up and I'm bored with the "proper" BMW paint scheme...

Great pic, Joe. Hope Nancy is on the mend? ... sucks to not be able to ride in that condition.

Meat Cove, Northern end of the Cabot Trail (and then some), Cape Breton.
At this point the oil cooler was half full of mud (would fill it up on the way out the next day) and the underside had at least ten pounds of mud packed into it. Right past where those two people were standing it was about 200 feet straight down to the ocean. A few more small dents and scratches but the bike will have a few more stories to tell when it goes to where ever dead bikes go. Sure could have used those Pirelli Scorpions - maybe next year.

When the guy with the motor on his bicycle saw my motorcycle, of course he told me his other bike is a BMW...

You're most welcome. Ebbetts and Sonora are among some of the most amazing California roads. Basic route is

Very cool to see the route this way for those of us that don't know the region. Seem it would be cool to make this a two day trip allowing for a more mellow riding pace and allowing more site seeing.

SF_Hooligan,
My wife and I made a trip to Mendocino in the summer and if the road through the Stanislaus National Forest is anything like the road through the Jackson State Forest, that’s one heck of ride! We flew into Sacramento and used 20 all the way to the coast. I think it was the twistiest road I’ve even been on (was in a car, unfortunately).
Interestingly, at the place we stayed there was a couple on a bike setup for touring and that might have been the catalyst for her to say, “Hey, maybe it would be fun for me to start riding with you again?” … fast forward to October… R1200R in garage, trying to get the break-in mileage out of the way …
One of these days we’ll get out to Cal on a bike trip… absolutely amazing riding there… truly blessed to live in that part of the country.

Joe,
don't sell the R, its been far too much of a good friend to treat her in such a way!! And its still one of the best "all rounders" there is out there.
Here is the evidence, with my baby near the top of the Alps

Hi Folks,
Just got back from a short ride around our neighborhood;
Rural Switzerland above Lake Geneva
Fall colors, matt grey in my case!
Snow capped Mont Blanc in the distance above Lake Geneva.
Wine country…and now that the ride is over it’s time to enjoy a glass of the good stuff whilst catching up on your latest posts!
Ride safe and keep the blue side up!
