HELP ! Need Seat Id'ed

I purchased a R12R seat off of ebay recently. It was posted as a "Low Seat". Looks like a Regular Seat to me. The numbers on the back side reads: 163609-10, 2nd line: 7 697 216-04. Can somebody check their low seat and see if this matches your number. Not sure what these numbers are.

Last year ordered the "Low Seat" from my local dealer and actually got it. This year the seat was being replaced under warranty. They merely utilized my previous order number(s)...but the seat I received was the standard one. Scrounged around the showroom floor and took the low seat off a showroom model. The problem is that the parts book show the 04 as the low seat.

That being said my standard seat has the numbers you referenced. The low seat on my bike is the same first line. Second line is 7 697 216-05.

Given the confusion the dealer was trying to figure out what happened. Either they don't offer the low seat to purchase anymore or it goes by a different, more confusing name.

To add to the confusion:

01 Seat bench, high, black 835MM 1 08/2007 52537698380 $433.14 +core
01 Seat bench, low, black 770MM 1 52537698379 $433.14 +core
thin version
01 Bench seat, black, extra-low 770MM 1 52537713114 +core

I like how there is a "low" - 770mm version, and an "extra-low" - 770mm version.

As far as I can see none of the numbers on the bottom are PN's - at least not BMW PN's. AFAIK - the seat bases are ALL the same. The only difference is the foam plug and cover (according to Sargent who redid one of my low seats.) Which brings up an option - send one off to Sargent (find the discount code hidden within this forum..) and have them make it a low seat.

If you have the link to the EBay auction - and the photo is still up - I can spot a low seat at about 100 yards.. :)

The first three part numbers that Don listed are the same BMW part numbers listed on Sierra BMW's site, albeit Sierra BMW is quite a bit cheaper. Not totally sure what the numbers on the bottom of your seat indicate.

I know this probably isn't loads of help, but do a Google Image search for BMW R1200R Low Seat and R1200R Standard Seat. You'll tell the difference of the two seats by the distance from top to bottom where the seat pan starts to flair up into the passenger pillion.

As Don says, they're easy to spot. The slash/indent/strake on the side of the seat, under the rider not the pillion is much closer to the top of the seat on the low seat than on the regular seat due to removal of foam. Find pictures and compare, the difference is obvious.

Well looks like the so call "low seat" I bought on Ebay is really a stock height OEM seat. Damn! I'll just send this seat to Sargent to be made into a low seat. Thanks everybody for your input.

No need to settle for what you got. I'm willing to trade my true factory low seat for your standard seat. PM me if you're interested.

Did you get the Sargent seat? How do you like it?

Found the difference between the "low" and "extra-low" seat

I had the dealer order both the "low" - 770mm version (52537698379), and an "extra-low" - 770mm version (52537713114).

Today, I had a look at both side-by-side - the "extra-low" - 770mm version is the exact same height as the "low" - 770mm version BUT the main saddle is about 30mm closer to the handlebars, making it a "770mm low, 30mm forward" version. It does not have any side notches like the long ones on the "low" - 770mm version or the shorter ones on the Bench seat, black 800MM
