Is this a fair price for a R1150R

Post by oiasghar »

Well, its only been since February that I parted with my R1150R and am already wanting to get one again. Anyway, found a bike locally listed for $5495.00. Its 2004 ABS, heated grips and side cases. The bike has 55K miles on it. Not sure about maintenance history but will be calling them tomorrow to find out. Just trying to figure out if the price is right. The Kelly Blue Book trade in is $5430. I am not really concerned about actual miles as the bike can take it if well cared for. More a question of is the price right.

Why not look at the one for sale in the sell/buy section? Look at the Ohlins sell.
Only $5000, 2004 with goodies.
I dont know how that fits with where you live, but sounds like a good deal to me.

There is a 2004 Black for sale listed on the Houston Craigslist with just 2500 miles for $6500. That's in your neighborhood (and mine--I live in Dallas). I think that is a fair price for a premium bike but a steal compared to what you are looking at IMHO. You may even get it a little cheaper which makes it a no brainer. The only risk you have is the bike must have been a garage queen. Sitting around is not good for the bike (or anything else). Still, I would do it in a heartbeat.

No affiliation, etc. Just saw it when searching the ads and thought I would be shopping that bike if I didn't already have one!

Good luck!

That was freakin' awesome. I had given up on Craigslist because of trying to search multiple sites. Thank you.

Actually it is on my short list but it will require some planning to go to tyler; 130 miles with all the work oncall stuff. The other one was about 30 miles away. I can swing that without much trouble. Thank you.
