Re: Better Link for the cruise control question
The Vista cruise control (more properly called a throttle lock) works a charm, and I've always installed them on my Japanese standards. Few things improve your long-distance capability like being able to relieve the strain in your right hand and wrist. Unfortunately, it won't fit the BMW grip, nor w...

Re: new guy needs tires
Metzeler Z6 for me. 36psi front 42psi back. Confidence-inspiring grip - not necessarily a good thing ;) and 6k on rear so far with plenty left to go (as far as one can tell). Hmm... Last weekend my wife and I took a little 1100-mile trek up the back spine of the Idaho/Montana border to Whitefish an...

Re: photo gear and tripod
Nice install. I looked into this a couple of years ago, but eventually decided for more versatility and mounted a Hepco-Becker Journey 50-liter topcase that neatly contains a LowePro CompuTrekker AW backpack. While I was researching it, however, I did come across this tidbit of information that you ...

Re: Topcase Install begins
[quote="Coffeebean"]Hey, Very nice Hepco Becker Topcase! I just ordered one myself...but I was wondering where to obtain the optional Rack and Backrest for this model... any clues anyone?? Eurotech Motorsports is your best (maybe only) bet. Try this link: http://www.eurotechmotorsports.com...

Trucks and trailers
Four years ago while vacationing in the ol' Chrysler minivan I found myself following a farm truck pulling a flat-bed trailer. Something flew off the trailer and smacked the van--hard. I stopped immediately, but couldn't find any damage, so, in that way we all have of ignoring the obvious when the o...

Re: Mounting Hepco & Becker
Correct me if I'm wrong- you mount the Hepco & Becker top case using a metal bracket/plate. That plate bolts to the factory grab rails right? IOW you don't need the BMW luggage rack's top plate (item # 2 below)? http://www.places2ride.com/gear/images/BMW_r1150r_luggage_rack.png You are correct....

Re: Top Case
Does anyone know of a rear top case (hard) with a backrest? My 2004 R1150R has an OEM rack and System Cases. Or if there is not a case is there a backrest only that is available. My wife (who said she would never ride on that thing) would like a backrest. Thanks for your help... :P As others have p...

thanks guys. i dig the funk of the Rockster, but from what i seem to be reading, the Roadster might be a better long-term, sport, touring, commuter. I like the Ferro and think the Rockster headlight and instruments would look cool. (snip) anyone ever go from a Rockster to a Roadster or vice versa? ...

pardon the sl OT question, but, what will the 38 vs the 42 hold--will both hold 1 or 2 full face helmets? Is there a 50 liter version? do not see it on the twisted throttle website. It looks like a much easier install than the comparable GIVI? There is a TC50, and I can easily fit two medium Shoei ...

Good picture of the H-B mounting rack from ScooterCop plus all the manufacturer's model numbers you'll need to order the right one (it's 650.632.01.01 btw).

...and ends...
...since posting the pictures will take longer than the installation, assuming you have the OEM side-case/back-rack mounts.
The H-B's a good piece of kit. I already have a few thousand heavy duty miles on mine. BTW, passengers give a big thumbs-up to the back rest.

OT: R1200GS "Most Successful BMW of all"
Bit off-topic for this forum, but I just happened to catch this article on the Motorcycle.com site. Apparently the GS assembly plant has just rolled off its 100,000th bike, making it the quickest model to achieve that number in BMW history. I don't own one, but, like most road-exclusive Beemerites, ...

Unfortunately, as my wife and I have discovered on long trips, another reason for variable gas mileage is variable odometers. When I hit 200 miles on the RR, she's usually about 195+ on the Rockster. No idea which of us is accurate (so of course, we always report my readings, both when bragging to f...

Notify your credit and oil card companies about your travel plans. This will save you embarrassment and many headaches. Plus one! On our recent tour to the Ozarks, my wife and I gradually lost the use of all 3 credit cards we were carrying. On three of my last four trips I've had the credit card I ...

I have the 50-liter and it uses the same mounting hardware as Scootercop's 40 liter. Just use the solid and well-made H-B mount plate. It's relatively inexpensive and simply replaces the plastic BMW rack-plate and vertical struts with a steel plate and struts. You just swap the BMW bolts for the pro...

To me, the stock amber lenses look better. I know, I'm the weird one. I never thought the clear lenses looked better when they first became the hip mod to do. The clear lenses just appear cheap looking to me. It's just not right. The amber color provides an appealing contrast with all the black in ...
