Re: Has anyone water tortured their bike- Carbon deposits?

Just had my 80th since Oct. Haven't digested the manual yet. Take your bike out for a ride! The manual for my 320is (bought new in '81) suggested running the motor for an hour at 4500 rpm if you did not exercise the car often. My mechanic told me that BMW's are more efficient and run better at anyth...

Re: 7 hour rain ride

Just a response to two points. If ugly bothers you stop reading now. If not look at Hippo Hands. It's not real cold here in NC but I have seen guys ride in below freezing weather without gloves. Disclaimer; not ten hour rides just short rides and around town. I've never ridden in weather below low 2...

Re: Visor Color?

Hey guy, I have never tried bronze or yellow shields. Yellow used to be used to eliminate early morning mists, improve low light conditions and to remove the color blue. Originally used as shooting glasses. I have tried: clear, light tint, medium tint, dark tint, and mirrored dark. Some if not all h...

Six speed versus five! That extra gear is all the difference in the world.
Safe and happy holidays to all.

Re: Blip throttle when downshifting?

My 'new' bike is #934 80th. Not a quick revving bike. When shifting up or down I just increase or decrease the throttle opening slightly to match the difference between tranny and engine. It's a very small adjustment, and in my situation it is easier to match them than 'blipping' the throttle and ho...

Re: Windshield Mod Phase I

Thanks Xdot, I'll call them and see if they can can come up with a set.
Any ideas on how to track down a 'new' Marsee 10l Teardrop magnetic bag?
I'll try IBMWR. I guess I need to rejoin BMWMOA and BMWRA. Later.

Re: Windshield Mod Phase I

Well done post. I looked on Aeroflow's site and could not find the wind diverters for the tank. Were the ones shown in your last picture Aeroflow? I am finally back riding after my 10/31/05 getoff. Cannot deal w/GS seat height now. The Aeroflow kept my GS relatively quiet. Have already noticed annoy...

Re: Max speed rating of system cases?

GT; I once heard a story: In South Dakota a certain 2001 Mandarin GS ran 117 mph into the wind. Aeroflow screen; large lids; canectomy; 5 gal aux.fuel on pillion. NO WOBBLE. Would not pull 6th gear; above mentioned; 5th gear at 7200rpm. "If you not having fun going; you're going in the wrong di...

WELL, I ALMOST BROUGHT IT UP TO SEVEN

Fair warning; new guy posting w/questionable computer skills... I feel I would have fit right in because there seem to be plenty here with questionable skills in plenty of areas. No Ga. or NC members singled out in that statement. But;...if the shoe fits. Now that everyone is paying attention I will...
