Re: Higest vs lowest gas milage?
Overall about 45mpg but after adding BMW fuel sys cleaner at 20k mi as the dealer recommended, I think the mileage actually went up 4-5 mpg.

Adjustable handlebars for R12R
Due to neck arthritis I was looking for a more upright riding position than that from Wunderlich touring bars + barbacks. I found Rob at tharengineering.com who already made adjustable bars for sport bikes and was happy to design and make some for my R12R. I've adjusted mine a little taller, narrowe...

Fairing + fork bracket
Currently I'm installing PIAA 910 lights on Lumalink split link brackets. Hopefully my Parabellum Scout fairing will arrive next wk. Can anybody tell me if there's a distance along the fork where the fairing will or will not contact the brackets with fork compression?
Thanks
Toby

Road salt
Any consensus on riding on salt covered roads? Normally I haven't but maybe it's not that corrosive to the bike. Anxious to ride but may get too cold again to wash off bike.

Re: In deep...with Corbin seat
Thank you guys, thank you so much. The seat did come off using a combo of the above techniques. The right fit isn't figured out yet, in fact my new bright idea was to reverse the loop on the seat and now of course I'm right back where I started. I know, I just need to stick with the washers. Access ...

In deep...with Corbin seat
My new Corbin seat wouldn't latch in the rear so I added 2 washers under the loop on the seat. With a good shove the seat now latched securely. Very much to my dismay the seat won't unlatch tho. There's no movement whatsoever in the seat with turning the key in the lock. Short of taking a sawz-all t...

Re: How does the clutch slave cylinder hold up?
'10 R12R, 3800 mi, clutch slave cylinder gasket(?) failed and lost the fluid. Fixed on warranty of course . The tech said maybe installed wrong. But I'm thinking this isn't the issue you all are discussing.

Clutch problem on '10 R12R
Clutch pull felt light entering the interstate today and at home 60 mi. later, clutch fluid was below min. in the reservoir. Does anybody have any ideas why a '10 with 3800 mi. failed? Or any specific questions for the dealership next wk? Thanks.

SW Motech eng. guard install
Has anyone self installed these eng guards? The instructions imply for real mechanics only...that wouldn't be me. The diagram is straight fwd but my concern is if the rear engine frame bolt is removed, will the motor fall out of alignment while I'm fiddling with aligning and bolting in the guard? Al...

Re: Handlebar riser
Postscript:
The GenMar 1150R risers don't fit a '10 12R. The holes just barely don't align and the riser spacer doesn't account for the front to rear step off. Also the GenMar bolts are pretty soft and don't tolerate much misalignment.

Handlebar riser
Can anybody tell me if the handlebar mounting hardware changed from the R1150R to the R12R? GenMar has a riser for the 1150, but not the 1200, that looks like what I need. Thanks.

Handlebar adjusting
I'm new to BMW (from HD/Buell). Both the manual and the dealer say don't loosen and adjust the handlebars on my new R12R because of the reservoirs located on them. To me it just looks too easy to loosen them and rotate them back in order to tweak the ergos a little. Can anybody tell me if that would...

The Feb '10 issue of MCN addressed just that problem in the article 'Police Bikes Evaluated, Pt.2'. With the RT they use 'clutch and throttle' and with the Kaws they use 'clutch, brake and throttle'.
