Maybe a dumb windshield question
I'm looking to improve my comfort level for long interstate travel this summer so naturally I'm looking at windshield options. There certainly is a lot of info here on different experiences. I really like the looks of the parabellum sport sheild. I searched and found a review where the OP said the t...

Re: 2010 R12R - 12,000 mi service @ dealer
I'm kinda on an island here. The dealer I bought my bike from closed. I have been doing all of my own maint. including the 600 mi. I bought a factory Svc. manual and save any and all reciepts for consumeables as well as special tools (feeler gauges, oil filter wrench, coil removal tool, manual, etc....

Re: Road salt
As far as salt goes, I don't ride if there is a lot of salt powder laying around, but I'm a clean freak. So take that with a grain of.......................salt. More importantly, im my area of the woods, there is a lot of loose sand and gravel too. Be carefull, that stuff will put you down in a hea...

Re: Soft Luggage For R1200R
I used these on my last trip. Ran the straps under the seat. No need for rubbing compound or scratch removal. Granted they are not some high dollar Euro brand, but they worked great. http://www.tourmaster.com/xcart/product.php?productid=149&cat=31 http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk266/BlackSt...

I'm considering cutting mine down for the reduction in noise. Did the same on my FZ1 with good results.

I'm happy with my Leo Vince. There are lots of choices out there. Not too loud at all.

Neat bikes. Sorry to hear about your friend. I was too young to participate but I remember young men from my town going to vietnam. Iv'e read every book I could lay my hands on about it. I like just about any old machine, cars, bikes, aircraft, tractors, you name it.

Re: How much vibration ?
No vibration issues here.
I see vibration complaints from others on every bike I have in my stable. I don't seem to have these issues. Perhaps it's a sensitivity issue, or bike state of tune, or some other variable.

Re: First service question
I did my own, following the checklist and the factory SVC manual. Saved receipts for chemicals and the few tools I had to buy. I covered everything except checking codes. There is no way in heck the local dealer (who can't decide if they are going to continue being a BMW dealer or not) is going to t...

Re: Leo Vince titanium on order...
We stayed at a Best Western in Carrolton. Took 227 south from there. Caught 460 east of Georgetown. Took it southeast to Jeffersonville. Caught 213 south to Stanton. Took 11 to Daniel Boone Nat'l forest. Will definately take this route again. Definately got some wear on the sides of my tires.

Re: Oil Consumption: How much is too much?
You didn't identify what oil you are using so we know if its the same we are using. BMW 20W-50 Conventional? You could try a different oil, some burn off faster than others.
