Re: Fuel strip
From an email, today, by a local BMW club chapter webmaster: It is a sad day here at BMWBMW. This will be our last issue of the BTS. We tried applying for government bailout. But, we were denied because other, better-off financial institutions needed the funds more. Our editor has decided to close ...

Re: Fuel strip
The story on how a Maryland rider of a 2011 R12RT went through *eight* fuel strips, two onboard computers and 85 days in service before having his bike declared a lemon are on page 10 of this PDF http://bmwbmw.org/bts/2012/bmwbmw_bts_2012-04.pdf, the publication's final issue . My dealer is the sam...

Re: New rider and EWS at 60mi/hr?
The roads here are mighty bumpy and the bike was shaking all the way up the ramp. On the F800riders.org forum, there have been similar reports of loss of power at speed that turned out to be caused by battery problems. BMW has had problems with their batteries suffering from internal fractures. The...

Re: The Yellow Headlight
Interesting. There's a guy on the Versys forum who is using a yellow light for precisely the same reason. The only difference is that his is an auxiliary light. I wonder whether you would be better served by using the yellow lamp in the low beam and a white one in the high beam for a little more ran...

Re: Water cooled GS spied
I think any additional weight is so insignificant that it's a non-issue. Aesthetics? Maybe to some. The only real downside I can see is that there will be a radiator up front with a whole lot of very hot air blowing back on the rider. For guys who have ridden boxers for years, it'll be a shock. On t...

Re: My Bike v2
On the plus side, having four bikes in the garage is becoming routine for us. Maybe when the Versys goes I can fill that void with something else! [-o< Ah, yes, I well understand. I have an F800ST that is occupying a slot that needs to be filled with something else. R12R? I have room for only 3 bik...

Just a suggestion: you might consider adding some extensions to the Acerbis hand guards.

thanks, do you know which company made the break cable? ARG! It's BRAKE! Break is when something is broken. Sorry - for some reason that is just like screeching fingernails on a blackboard to me.. I start getting all sweaty whenever I see it.. 8-[ For me, it's those who don't know the difference be...

New shocks might improve things.
Since you seem to know where these holes are, it might help if you rode around rather than through them. Just sayin'.

Re: Turn off low fuel light
Well, if it's a real issue, you could substitute the appropriate sized resistor for the fuel strip to make the thing think the tank is full.

How about this. Hit the switch on the left bar to turn left, hit it again to cancel. Hit the switch on the right bar to turn right, hit it again to cancel. Makes eminent good sense. Who does it that way? Harley.

Re: Will Vario risers deal with wrist pain?
You might consider a set of bars with a different bend. It has worked for me. I use K75 bars on a couple of my bikes. They have a bit more bend. Of course, you'll be setting yourself up to solve the usual cable length problems and how to attach bar end weights, but for me, it was worth it.

Re: Varmint Cong!
I've managed to discourage the wee beasties by gassing them with mothballs placed in small glass jars in close proximity to the machinery. Interesting :-k Do you drill vent holes in the jar lids for effect? Nope, didn't put lids on the jars. I was pleased to find that the mothballs lasted all winte...

I submit for your consideration the Honda NT700V. Lighter than the ST1300, better fuel mileage, outstanding reputation for reliability, much less expensive and yadda, yadda.

Electronic cruise control
Long time BMW owner; first post on this forum.
Can someone tell me whether it is impossible to retrofit an RT cruise control to the R or whether it's just too expensive? Thanks.
