Re: Will Not Start after Heated Hand Grips Installed
I had a rattle from the fuel tank from the day I took it home from the dealer . Told the service writer about it when the bike went in for a 600 mile check to keep it under warranty, they found nothing amiss . Bike ent back in for a warranty replacement of the final drive output seal, told them abo...

Re: Keep blowing a fuel pump fuse???
The wiring that leads to the pump probably has a shortcut. If you do disconnect the connector located below the tank, and you still have a blown fuse, then that means the shorcut is before the connector. If you do not get a blown fuse with the connector disconnected, that means the shortcut is betwe...

Re: New Battery?
Odyssey batteries, the PC680 all the way.
Bought original battery from BMW, lasted 2.5 years, worked weak.
Odyssey has lasted 3 years now, works like a charm, always STRONG no matter what.
I just don't see it giving off any time soon.
Works as good as did on its very first day.

Re: Stiction in fork legs?
CycleRob..., I'm planning to install Fork Gaiters on my R1150R. I just replaced oil seals and dust seals and fork oil on them. Also polished the forks using aluminum foil and Brasso. They are nice... The seals I took away were rotten and OLD. Don't know why, but they were not leaking. The amount of ...

Re: fuel leak
Hi, I also have a leak and discovered a cracked fitting in one of the fuel line quick disconnects. I plan on taking the posted advice from Cyclerob and replacing the fuel lines along with the QD's. I have never worked with fuel lines before...What do I need to replace the fuel lines? Type and size?...

Re: Odyssey longevity??
I had the original gel BMW battery installed new at the dealer... Use the bike all year long... no resting periods longer than 2 or 3 days. It lasted less than three years..... What? :-X I bought and Odyssey, have had it two months. Starts much better than the BMW battery which had been (now I reali...

I hit 10 years this month. With the exception of a clutch-spline failure in May, I have had no problems. The repair bill is still hurting...... What mileage did you have when the clutch - spline went south? My r1150r has now 55k miles I plan to take much higher than that, what are my chances and ri...

Re: Interested in Purchasing 2003 R1150R w/ 24k Miles
I believe the price being asked for would require the bike to be PERFECT that means... 1000 miles at the most. new battery, the one it has is like 5 years old. full service just done.... NO other way. new fuel filter..., the one it has is due to change. external fuel filter.... otherwise it is too c...

Re: water in tank
Instead of the fishing nylon proposed here to clean the drain hole I found the "WEED EATER Round trimmer Line" sold in Walmart to be a much better "Sized" lien diameter wise. It's UPC code is 0 2476102021 3 It costs less than 3 bucks, diameter = 0.080" length 80' Of course y...

Re: Spark Plug Question
Clymer manual indicates wrongly for the secondary plug. It is mistaken. The correct NGK plug for secondary is NGK DCPR6E . I used to use NGK IRIDIUM DCPR7EIX, but the were fouled, they are too cold. When changed to DCPR6E things went perfect. Other people think like me. Be aware, try it yourself. Ed...

Re: cylinder head exhaust pipe glows red!
exhuast pipes can turn red.
I've seen them before. Not on the R1150R though.
What cannot be is one side only.
If that happens, then gas air mix is to lean on htat side, and producing more heat in it.
That needs to be fixed.

Re: Spark plugs?
I use AUTOLITE 3923 Double platinum for primary plug on my R1150R.
The cost like 3$ each a Walmart.
Excellent results.
So look for the equivalent for you case.
Good luck.

Re: MPG - A total let down!
In the city 41, 42 mpg.
Highway 47 solidly (70 to 80 mph) , but you can make up to 49; never 50 or more.
These numbers are one up for the city and two loaded for highway.
Many miles and trips gave me these numbers.
My bike, just in case R1150R 2004.

As a reference I can tell my RR has 55k miles.
no problems yet.
Also I heard this problem you're having happens,
was told so it is not so common.
Best luck man.
hope you're riding again soon.

It doesn't work for the secondary plugs.

Re: Final drive failure
Can I ask the current millage in your bike?
Second question would be,
did you notice anything besides the transmission seal, that could have let you know something was coming?
Thanks
Eduardo.
