Re: Highway Elf Pegs
I have a set on the "Sparky Pegs" on my '04. They came with the bike, but I don't use them very much. I have a 34 inch inseam and find them too high and far back for my comfort. They put my legs into that pelvic exam position. I would imagine they work better for people with more normal le...

Re: GS pegs etc are on my r1150r
I've been waiting to see this modification as I've been considering it myself. I look forward to hearing more about how the GS pegs work out.

Re: Twin Max - don't own a bike without one!
Only when I GOOGLED "TwinMax" I began to read the horror stories about people striping the cable adjusters and so on, trying to adjust the bike by reading TwinMax. If somebody knows the place where I can send this TOY for calibration, I would greatly appreciate the information. Otherwise,...

Re: Stock Seat Upgrade
I have both the Airhawk and the Alaska Leather sheepskin Either or both work well for me. I typically use the Airhawk for most day rides, but when on a trip, I put the sheepskin over the Airhawk.

Re: Squealing and whining squirrels under my tank!!
I should have read the original post more closely. I didn't realize the sounds would start before the bike was running.

Re: Squealing and whining squirrels under my tank!!
I have the same sound but I can rule out ABS because my bike doesn't have it. I don't think it's the fuel pump because it sounds like it is outside an in front of the tank. I would describe it as a chirping/squeaking sound. It only lasts until the engine warms up. I'm waiting for more clues from you...

Re: Fastway Pegs on R1150R?
Are you saying they are the same pegs that fit on the GS? Do they give you any more leg room?

Fastway Pegs on R1150R?
I have a set of Fastway F3 footpegs left over from an '04 1150GS. Will these fit my just-acquired '04 1150R? If they do fit, will I notice a difference?
TIA

Re: Boxer oil. . .
There is no avoiding an extended oil thread once anyone starts the topic. Like others I am compelled to respond and therefore extend yet another oil thread. So here goes... This is marketing at it's best (worst?). To suggest that Boxers need still more specialized oil than has been pushed at us alre...

Do you really need the bigger tank--I mean REALLY? I ride with some guys who have Adventures and PDs (R100GS Paris Dakar). Both those bikes hold several more gallons than mine. While they CAN go farther on a tank than me, it has never benefited them on our rides. They do get to gloat about not needi...

The gel/agm/sla batteries prefer a fairly low charge compared to a standard battery. The Deltran Jr. charger I have puts out 750ma. I just bought an Odyssey PC680 so if anyone's interested in my Deltran battery tender junior for $20 shipped (within US), pm me. I'll post it in the for sale section s...

The R and the GS are tuned to 85hp (crank) and 71ftlbs torque (@5250rpm). The gearing is fairly high in 1st and uniform to 6th which comes in two flavors (high and higher). The GS has an available lower 1st gear and slightly different ratios throughout. They both have more open and upright seating,...

All this surprises me.
I have an '04 K1200GT that gets around 40 MPG on average, and as high as 46 once. I am thinking about downsizing to a lighter, more basic bike, so I've been lurking here for some time. I thought for sure the R would get better mileage than my 660 pound, four cylinder K-bomb. I still want to down-siz...

Check...
...www.f650.com. But check the FAQ before posting any questions about the bike. There is a pretty rude element on that discussion board that does not welcome newbie questions. BTW, I have an F650GS, the more civilized different brother to the Dakar. I like it a lot. What do you want to know about it...
