Re: Three quarter helmets....

With my first bike, I went back and forth between a Shoei 3/4 and RF700 full-face. The day I went DOWN , I had that full-face on. I lofted off of the bike, and I came down face first, biased toward the right side. I'd be FAR uglier than I am today were it not for that chin-bar. Indeed, I've been wei...

Every police bike 'round here seems to have sheepskin, or at dead-ringer made from artificial fleece. My Alaska Leather pad added comfort far in excess of its cost. :D

In California it is forbidden, but is done all the time Actually, it is quite legal there. However, I've talked to at least a few Commie-fornia bikers who are loathe to do so due to the dangers. Doors being opened into your 'path', cigs, food, and drinks being tossed from windows, etc. Here in AZ, ...

That's one think that just bites about the R12's. If you think your 1150 seat is uncomfortable in one way or another, the 12 has it beat . I've sat on all three heights, as near as I can tell, and I don't like them. I have not gone so far as to put my Alaskan pad on one, but that may take the edge o...

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Ditto. Stuff like this is depressing to read. If it was something he thought you could handle he would tell you to go home and do it, and maybe loan you the tools. We're talking 60s here. Two words come to mind for why it's changed. . . Liability-Which the d...

Anytime you buy a service bike, even with low miles, you have to assume that it's been ridden hard and put away wet. They should be priced accordingly. Damn straight. I've had techs tell me they wouldn't even buy one themselves for fear of encountering problems even they couldn't forsee. Just not w...

Don't forget that these bikes are also supposed to get an 'annual' service, regardless of whatever interval visits your riding mileage dictates. ALL fluids are changed out on that one.

I believe the warranty begins with what BMW calls the "service date" which they keep in their computer. This is the date the bike went into service. I believe it can be looked up by any dealer. ..some "demo" bikes have service dates of when the dealer started using them as a dem...

My senior guys assert that Telever is also harder on a tire than conventional forks. Since it does such a wonderful job of isolating the bumps, it keeps all of that impact dead-center in the centerline of the tire. If you're not running higher than normal air-pressure, cupping can become notable.

You aren't picking up a whole lot of extra weight with the RT, despite the bodywork. IIRC, they around 570 wet weight . You will be picking up 25 extra ponies that more than compensate for the weight gain, plus the fact that the hex-head motor runs even smoother, and shifts smoother. The negative is...

I just bought Road Attacks for my R1150R. I LOVE THESE TIRES! I cannot feel the tar-snakes and asphalt grooves that are prevalent on our area freeways. Two questions. 1) You mention on your website that your version of this model tire, FOR BMW MODELS, is a special 'C-edition'. I doubt highly this is...

See how long WD-40 will last. I picked that up from an article in Motorcycle Consumer news. It did a great job on my black parts that seems to be holding well.

I definitely would like to hear your input if you try those other recommendations, also. :)
