Re: Parabellum installed
I am 6' 1" tall, and when I am on the interstate doing 80mph, I can ride with my face shield open and hear my IPod just as clearly as when my visor is closed. If I want to feel buffetting on my helmet I have to stretch my head upwards. It definitely makes the bike a whole new animal. From top o...

Re: LiFePo4 battery
Don't know about the Chi-com battery, but just put a Tek in a buddy's R100 SRS. Its cranking power is pretty cool, it didn't have the ole airhead start. It fired up quick as a hiccup. We just had to augment the box because it is considerably smaller.

Re: Windshield Removal Problem
Exactly, the BMW windshield mount brackets don't attach to the mirrors. The handle bars have a threaded hole on the underside that do not go through.

Re: Parabellum installed
I thought the Latin was Para Bellum; meaning, "Prepare for War." As in Si vis pacem, para bellum or a Luger P8Shakey wrote:Did you know that the word Parabellum is Latin and means "for War" (as in 9mm Parabellum)?

Re: Windshield Removal Problem
The upper brackets should have a allen head bolt that threads into the handlebar on the underside just before the handle unit, and the lower bracket should be attached to the fillister head screws (elongated upper allen head bolts) on the goose neck (Where the handlebars attach). The upper brackets ...

Parabellum installed
Well, I always wanted one on my 99RR, but never bit the bullet. So I did it with my 2000RR. I am quite happy with the Scout fairing, I went with an 18" windshield and it definitely quiets the ride from the stock BMW Windshield. Haven't taken it into triple digits, but at 90 their is no buffetti...

Re: R1100R fuel tank capacity
I have gotten 180 out of tank at the absolute most when I was up in the mountains. Flat out on the interstate staying at 80 mph though, my dummy light comes on around 130 miles and I will get gas at the 160 mark with usually between 3.9 and 4.1 gallons. I have never run it out to see where the absol...
Re: R850R
Nice looking bike! This might help you out a little: http://www.ketchum.org/BMWmc/R1100.pdf Why did you replace the shocks? I'm curious because my bike has similar mileage. Maybe mine are worn out also? Shocks are usually shot after 30,000 miles, put some new shocks on your ride and you will have w...

A person who may have one actually installed on their bike. Especially considering that none of the photos you sarcasticly linked to actually designates what size they are using, the fact that they come in 10", 14", 16", 18", 20", and use to be available in a 22" for ma...

Re: So lucky
Oh yea, you never ticket a doctor or nurse who may one day be patching you butt up . . . :D Its just bad Ju Ju, Gris Gris, or whatever you want to call it. Charity was an asylum, figuratively speaking of course, but if you worked in the ER, it was full frontal. There were a few shoot outs, hostage s...

Re: So lucky
I do so miss it. I retired in 2006, eight months after Katrina and moved back to Florida. The hardest thing for me was not having a good restaurant within a stone's throw. The rack of lamb at Ciro's, I am definitely missing it now.
Have fun and stay safe.

You not joking about MCLA. . . Charity would definitely have been an experiance for residency. We used to always joke if I get shot or am in a bad way, get me to Room 4, and after I'm patched and stable, get me to Tulane  Mardi Gras on the bikes were the worst, look familar . . . http://impress...

Yep those are from Killboy and US129. I won't argue ATTGATT, I worked Fatality for NOPD long enough to know the benefits of protection. Seen plenty of nasty crashes and the bodies to go with it; vehicular and motorcyle, but in my 20 years I never saw anyone die of roadrash. As you can see from the p...

Re: So lucky
I just can't get into the whole leathered up bit, its not a track day, its a vacation. I guess I spent to much time as a Motorcyle Cop wearing uniforms and half-helmets. Been in a few bike accidents and worked too many to count, and have never felt the need beyond heavy trousers and good leather boo...
