FS: R1200R Booster plug
Booster plug for Air/Oil cooled R1200R (mine was a 2011 model) Part No. BMW-0411 Enriches the fuelling at low RPM in order to overcome snatchy throttle. Compensates for ambient temperature (as if you all didn't know that) Can be left in place for UK MOT as there is no emissions test for bikes. :clap...

For Sale - R 1200 R 2011 accessories and Farklements
Following the trade in of my R12R (2011 bike) I have the following items for sale. I'm happy to post them anywhere but be aware I am based in the UK (Aberdeenshire). All prices are exclusive of P+P because I prefer to charge the actual posting costs rather than guessing. 1. Touratech Comfort seat. A...

Parting is such bitter sweet sorrow
Mea Culpa! As mentioned here http://www.r1200r.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=34640&sid=c3f8a995e301c51d04725ec8e7ad2ebf , I took my R on an 80 mile one way trip yesterday to Motorrad in Dundee where they have given a good trade-in price against a GS LC TE. I'd spend the week removing farkle...

PR4s are certainly worth a little extra but not that much!
I buy my tyres for car and bike from MyTyres.co.uk............. So naturally they come from Germany
It might be worth a look to see if they will deliver over to the USA then you just need to find a fitter.

Re: footpeg lowering
I had this problem and had tried a couple of cheap solutions to no avail. Being UK based it was easier to follow the recommendation of a member who PM'd me details of the SW-Motech replacement "pegs" which you can see fitted in this thread about a different mod: http://www.r1200r.org/board...

Re: Sidestand (Kickstand) modification
Hi all. I'm pre-op at the moment so not riding as much as I'd like so I can't comment about it getting in the way. I originally had it so it sat between the peg and the gear shift but it was pretty obvious that it might interfere with upshifts. The final position as shown resolves that and means tha...

Sidestand (Kickstand) modification
I am around 8 weeks shy of a left hip replacement and have been finding the bike a bit much to manage lately. Riding is fine but when I stop or want to park things get a bit painful and tricky. One thing I miss on the R is the little peg sticking out of the sidestand to allow you to kick it down eas...

What a Numpty!
In Scotland, a Numpty is a foolish person. So for reasons too many to bore you with, I haven't been able to get out on a ride since October last year and I hate starting my bikes after a long lay-up as the metalwork will be moving without lubrication for a few seconds. I well remember the noises an ...

Re: I'm back - or how to visit a LOT of countries in Europe
Hi Don, I'm really glad you enjoyed your trip to Europe. As you say, in Holland, Germany, France and Austria, car drivers are much more pro bike and bike aware. I recall a time when a group of us drove around 20km on a motorway that was gridlocked because of an accident - the two lines of cars parte...

Re: I just retired...
I thought I was going to read something that solicited congratulations (retirement) but instead I read of a fellow rider who has had to make a hard decision after a nasty sounding incident. Huge respect to you for putting your wife's feelings high on your priority list and I wish you a speedy and un...

Re: R1200R out of production
I took a GS wasser boxer out for a few hours about a month ago and absolutely loved it. Very comfortable seat. Geared more like a car in my opinion than a bike and absolutely buckets of torque compared to my R. However it's not £9,000 better than my R so I kinda think I'll be staying where I am for ...

Re: Anyone in Europe?
Don, If you are stopping in Munich then you have to visit the World of BMW exhibit at the factory. It's very car centric as you'd expect but there is also a very good bike exhibit too. Well worth a visit. A note of route planning - buy the Michelen maps for your route and look for roads that have a ...

Re: Alice's Adventures in the Highlands
Day 4. Time to go home. Up and over the Lecht Ski centre road via my favourite cafe stop at Corgarf. But first; my first visit to Aviemore. Aviemore is Scotland's answer to Tirolean skiing resorts and serves the slopes in the Cairngorm range of mountains. I need to refuel so Ill bimble into town and...

Before heading of up the great glen I took a 25 mile...

Re: Alice's Adventures in the Highlands
Day 2. With my head now firmly out of Work / Study Mode I realised that I had dropped a planning clanger. It turns out to be a "Bank Holiday weekend" which means that the roads are going to be chocka-block full of tourists! AAAAARRGH! So the Wee Bonny Banks of Loch Lomond became the Muckle...

Re: Alice's Adventures in the Highlands
Day 1. It's Scotland and I've got a day off so therefore it's raining. Never mind - just wait 10 minutes and it'll change. The ride along the south bank of the River Dee to Balmoral castle soon dried up and judging by the Bobby on duty at the gate I guess Her Majesty is in residence for the summer a...

Re: Corbin seat experience
I've had several Corbin's, and while they are sturdy and well made, they are heavy (fiberglass) and they NEVER fit properly without some modification -- inexcusable. That said, after several hours on them, I wasn't thinking about the saddle. A much better choice in turnkey saddles is Sargent, thoug...
