Re: Help request - Rockster front axle measurement
I measured mine at 10.4mm. My front wheel is free spinning and only slight brake drag after i squeeze the brake once hard after which it spins but not as free as before applying and releasing the brake.

Re: Odd starting problem
Battery 101% I just went through 4 days of major hassle trying to figure out what the problem is. Thought it is the starter, starter rely, short circuit on some wire, etc, etc. In the end it was the battery. Just bought a new one ($89) this morning and I am back riding my bike. I charged my old one ...

Starting problem :-(
My bike would not start on Sunday morning (emitting some strange chirping noise but no clicks trying to excite the starter motor) and I assumed it is the battery and left it to charge. When it was fully charged, I tried starting it again and same thing happened but this time I noticed the noises com...

Re: Squeaking noise when starting
The squeaking noise actually starts when the bike is running idle for the first 15-30 seconds. Sounds as if something is rusty. Not sure what this is but after i take off, the sound goes off. Every time i start the bike cold i use the choke lever to start the bike and ride with it for a minute and t...

Squeaking noise when starting
lately I've noted that when i start my bike in the morning I can hear a squeaking noise as if something is rusty? What can it be? Is it the alternator belt? Bike runs well and this noise only comes when it is started after a prolonged (few hours no running) stoppage. what can it be? is it easy to ch...

Removed the cat, does it need fuel control adjustment?
My 2004 R1150R Rockster came with original catalytic converter, Supertrapp exhaust muffler which did not have the core but only the can (someone must have gutted the core and discs) and it also came with Techlusion R259 Fuel Control module. It ran OK at least to me, as I am new to BMW. Then I got th...

Re: Y-pipe
Received my Y-pipe from motorworks today. Fitting was a breeze. The finish is excellent. let's see how it manages the heat. The muffler does not slip on as far as it did on the cat pipe but a slightly longer dent on the Supertrapp can (the original had a small dent as well) made sure it would not ru...

Re: Lambda sensor....removal??
I just installed my newly bought Y-pipe and removing the lambda sensor from the cat was a breeze. 22mm wrench and a firm tug got it slackened in one go. used some copper slip when fitting it onto Y-pipe. maybe I was lucky.

Re: road hazard
IT IS SO SIMPLE ANSWER. CAGERS ON THE STREETS OF VANCOUVER, CANADA. SOCCER MOMS IN THE MORNING, TIRED CONTRACTORS IN THEIR WHITE (NO WINDOWS) CARGO VANS IN THE EVENING RUSHING TO GO HOME AFTER A DAYS WORK. THEY HAVE NO MERCY AT ALL EVEN IF THEY SEE YOU. AND THOSE SHORT TINY CREATURES WITH FLAT HEADS...

Did you install that Y-pipe from Motorworks? Does it fit OK? I've bought one myself awaiting delivery.

EBC Double H sintered brake pads, are they for Rockster?
I am reading an article about the use of sintered vs organic bake pads and it clearly says that sintered metallic brake pads are Ok for SS brake discs but not for cast iron or other non SS brake discs. Brake discs on my 2004 R1150R Rockster are not Stainless Steel as magnet sticks to them so I guess...

False neutral at higher speed, what do you do?
I do not hit false neutrals too often. Today as i came out of a long curve speeding up from 80 kmh in 4th gear to 5th gear and when I was about 110 kmh i wanted to shift to 6th gear when i hit the false neutral. when I figured out i was in neutral I pressed the clutch again and was able to coast and...

Re: Is this unusual wear?
"Looks normal to me. Still some meat left before the wear bar, and higher wear on the LH part of the tyre (tire) there is to be expected as you ride/drive on the right." I am a bit confused with above statement. Why would the left side of the tire be more worn out than the right one by rid...

Heated grips, right side hotter than left one
I bought my 2004 R1150R Rockster in September last year and cannot recall if there was difference in heat between right and left side. I've changed my handlebars from retrofitted R1150R back to to original R1150R Rockster bars and tried the heating only for a short time and it worked. Last few days ...

Converting MPH to KMH dial
I have a US model R1150R Rockster with analogue speedometer reading in MPH in big numbers and KMH in small numbers. Riding it in Canada where speed limit is in KMH i'd prefer to see the speed display in KMH so I can try and keep close to the speed limit and not expose myself to speeding tickets. Sho...

Re: Side or centre stand?
Looking at responses to my poll I see that the majority still uses centre stand and not the side stand even for short stops while those that commented believe that using side stand for anything other than short stops does no harm? Interesting. I guess Oliver's response persuaded me that parking usin...

Side or centre stand?
I've read that parking the boxer on a side stand for anything over an hour "may" cause the oil to leak past the piston rings causing the blue smoke and "may" eventually cause the damage o the engine. Is this true? how do you do it?

Thanks for clarifying this to me. Makes sense as I heard that stuff is pretty heavy.
