Re: Neutral light woes

Which dealer are you going to? Metuchen or NYC (I'm in Bloomfield, NJ)? My light takes a few seconds to realize it's in neutral... maybe they can give us a 'group rate'

NADA book value for motorcycles:

Interestingly, the KBB trade in value for a good condition 2002 R1150R was $4,500, right at the top of the NADA valuation.

On some models (like mine), it's still labeled a choke, so referring to the fast idle as a choke isn't entirely inaccurate.

With regard to the pinging, what brand and grade of gas are you using? You might try a tank of Shell V-Power and see if it quiets down a bit.

A dose of Seafoam in the gas tank might help as well (certainly wouldn't hurt).

Saw the movie yesterday, and came away with 2 thoughts:

Damn shame what she did to that bike

and,

Wouldn't a 650GS have been a better choice if gas and terrain were her biggest problems?

Killswitch first, then ignition and kickstand. It's only takes 1/2 a second more, and if I need to start her back up fast (I see a better parking spot elsewhere, for example), I never have to take my hands off the controls. Using the ignition switch first solves a problem I don't have: I can't remem...

The only episode of Epic Rides I watched was the last episode I watched. At the top of the show, the 3 celebrity riders discuss the 3 'average Joe' riders vehicles and experience, one of which happened to be HBRDR over on the advrider.com boards. Now maybe I'm being a little over sensitive, but it s...

I used a bottle of Heet (dry gas) in mine... easy to read and fairly harmless if it gets sucked into the cylinders.

Good point. Guess I'll do a drain and fill this weekend. Gives me a good enough excuse to ride the bejezus out of it for the next week or two!

My bike's 7 years old with pretty low (< 6k) mileage. I'm guessing that prior to me doing an oil change, none of the vehicles fluids were ever changed out. I can understand how age would affect brake fluid (7 years absorbing any available moisture in the cylinder), but I don't see how motor/gear oil...

What's in the extra LWR footage?

Does anyone know when the BBC is going to start airing the LWD episodes? I'm all fine with buying the DVD when it hits the states, but that doesn't mean I've the patience to wait that long to see 'em... ;)

Transmission fluid drain

My Clymer manual shows 2 nuts, one right above each other. The top is for filling, and the bottom for draining. However, on my bike (a 2000 model), the drain appears to be deeply recessed (like 3-4 inches) into the tranny. Am I looking at the right thing? I'll see if I can get pictures tonight if I'...
