Roadtec 01 tires with 3,500 mi. OEM touring windscreen should be included. http://www.bmwmcofseattle.com/content/...

Re: Is the electrical / charging system really this wimpy?
It is interesting that the bike was only off the charger for a week and also that it started right up when you got home. Was it on the charger in the meantime? My 2012 R1200R Classic has always been difficult to start if not ridden for more than two weeks (a rare occurrence until recently :)), but i...

Re: I would go for a non ESA bike.....
To the extent I can compare my R1200RTW with D-ESA to my R1200R with Ohlins, I would say the D-ESA is very good. I do not feel any need for an upgrade and am glad I went with the D-ESA, although I don't know what the non D-ESA suspension is like. On the R1200RTW the Dynamic ESA is a $950 standalone ...

Re: More on new R12R with Video
Based on my experience with the R1200RTW, I would say the new roadster is going to be a fantastic bike. However, having seen it in person at the Seattle IMS, it is not as nice looking as the previous hexhead and camhead bikes.

Re: Parts Question for OEM Luggage Rack 2014 Bike
You are correct. The online parts catalogues point to P/N 46 63 7 723 861 for the rear trim when the luggage rack is installed, regardless of model colour. It is an unpainted black plastic, which explains why it is so cheap compared to the corresponding painted plastic parts which are used when ther...

Re: Fuel Strip finally addressed by BMW..sort of
I got the letter Thursday. Friday I was thinking how well fuel strip #6 was doing. 9 months and 8,000 mi was a new record for me. Maybe they solved the problem? Saturday it failed!

That was my Mother's solution to car problems. Fortunately, for my dad, she never had to drown out a low oil pressure warning with music.deilenberger wrote: ... If noise bothers you turn the music up.

Re: Differences between 2009 and 2013?
The valve clearance check was done by the dealer as part of what they call a Level 1 service that gets done every 6,000mi. There was no indication beforehand that any shims needed to be replaced. I do not think it is hard to check clearance or change shims on the camheads, but I've never actually do...

Re: Differences between 2009 and 2013?
At 30,000mi my 2012 camhead R1200R Classic needed a new shim on one LHS and one RHS exhaust valve (the upper valves). The clearances were only slightly out of spec (measured at 0.42mm vs. specified range of 0.30mm - 040mm). The clearances on the other exhaust valves (the lower valves) and the inlet ...

Re: slider/bung question
The only slider/bung I'm aware of on the R1200R is the one at the pivot between the final drive and paralever arm. That pivot joint will touch in a RHS drop. Other than that I think the bike will rest on the valve covers and tires in a drop.

Re: Post Maintenance Test Ride - Be Careful
Did you get a new set of brake pads? No. Never occurred to me there would be a problem until I read your post. I originally thought the leak was from the brakes and took a close look at them but could not see any evidence of fluid around or on the brakes. I did not notice any ill effects on the rea...
