Do I need a new starter?

I just replaced my battery ('04 Rock, 18K miles) because it started cranking slowly even though I keep it connected to a tender whenever it's parked. Still, after a new battery it cranks slow and won't start. The voltage on the battery shows almost 13V and the system is charging @ 14V so I'm beginni...

Re: How does a bad starter behave?

Fantastic responses! Thanx for your help guys. I'll give euromotoelectrics a call. It appears that it would be a pretty quick replacement (aside from the fact that the damn fuel tank has to almost come off to access the battery!)

Thanx again duckdave and johnny!

Moving to Portland - how's the dealership?

It appears that Portland Motorcycle is the only BMW motorcycle dealership in the metro area. Correct? Anyone have any insights into what I might expect with their service department and such?

How to sell a Rockster

Well, I'm selling out. Bought a new (almost) 325CIC and I'm going to pass the Ed. 80 on to some lucky buyer. Question: should I try and sell the bike with all the accessories or should I separate them out (eg. system cases, windscreen, etc.)? Obviously, one approach would be much easier than the oth...

I vote for patronizing your local dealer. I've ordered from Chicago to save money and their customer service is so poor that I've had to visit my dealer with my tail between my legs and beg them to help me resolve things. They always help me out but it doesn't feel right especially when so many of t...

I've only had one problem with my Quest. It's about a year old and I just got it back from Garmin after a free repair (the antenna started shorting out). Be forwarned, the software and the interface is ridiculously designed. It will take many hours of hair pulling to learn how to use it efficiently....

Hey! That looks exactly like my bike (except much cleaner).

The thing I like best about the windscreen is how easily it's removed/installed. I only throw it on the bike if it's particularly cold or if I'm going to cover some big miles.

Well, I’m now 318 miles away from returning home after a month-long, 5500 mile outing on the Rockster. And while I have had an incredible time and the scenery has been spectacular, my biggest discovery has been that I am not a big fan of touring by motorcycle. I write this not to judge or cri...
