Re: Different sound with or without catalysator

Kobe22, Let me know if you need a stock can, mine's been sitting in the garage since I put my Remus set up on a few years ago.
Cheers,

Re: Hey all, new Rockster owner here.

Greetings from Canada and welcome to the board. Great looking bike! Though I hate to break it to you that it's not a Canadian spec bike based on the paint scheme. We got the same orange or green bikes as the US got, in addition to the edition 80. That being said since it's a custom paint job you won...

Re: DDM Tuning H1 HID Dual Upgrade Kit

I did the order a few months ago but I believe it was 6k bulbs I went with. They throw a great amount of light at night, traffic signs seem to pop out at you along with making you very visible.

Re: Wish we didn't need mirrors

I know what you mean, I love the look of my bike when I take them off for track days... I'd post a pic, but I don't know how, thought there used to be an attachment button...

Re: DDM Tuning H1 HID Dual Upgrade Kit

Also FWIW I did the same upgrade on my '03 Triumph Sprint and was equally satisfied with the results. Total cost including shipping to Canada for the 2 kits (4 bulb/ballast combos) was ~$100 CDN. Well worth it IMHO.

Re: DDM Tuning H1 HID Dual Upgrade Kit

I've done the kit on mine, very happy with the results. The guys at my local dealer thought it was a great upgrade, far better lighting, and a great price. All I needed to do was dremmel a space in the black plastic light housing on the rear of the lights to pass some wires through. Very easy to do ...

Re: Rockster Tank Bag?

I'm pretty happy with the Frank Thomas Cargo bag I've got. Nothing super special, good magnets that are well covered so they don't scratch, good size storage, 3 outside small pockets, and a good size map (GPS) pocket.

Re: Exhaust System for the Rockster

I've got a Remus Ti pipe with a Y-Pipe I picked up a few years back at BMW Motorrad Milwaukee. Very happy with the weight reduction and sound. Not to sure about the current availability of this set up, when I got mine they sold me the titanium set up at the price of the stainless steel set up as the...

Re: fitting second hand remus/ touring tyres

Yeah, I've got a Remus & y-pipe on my bike as well and love the sound. Did the swap myself and went through pretty much all of the issues listed, including the next door neighbour and beer, but it was a fun process. Enjoy the new sounding ride.

Re: Was the Rockster considered a sales failure?

My first thought was that David Robb stole the off set headlight design from KTM, it looks just like the set up on the 2000-2001 640 Adventurer. That being said I like the design and am happy I ended up with one, but they sure don't have the traditional higher residual resale value that other BMW mo...

depends on the ambient temperature

Depending on how cold it gets where you store your bike you don't need to take the battery out. If it's near freezing, but not frequently or far below just leave the battery in the bike with the tender hooked up to it. Make sure you get the battery out if it's getting really cold or consistently sta...

Yeah, I typically run 30/33 on the track with an ambient temperature around 25-30C. I'm also lazy enough to bring a little compressor to the track for the ride home.

I'll second the Metzler's. I did 2 days out at Shannonville Motorsports Park this summer on the rock with my Met's and they were never close to losing traction even when I kissed the cylinder heads on the track. Good all around tyre.

Triumph

I use the Triumph OEM bags off of my 2003 Sprint ST. They were less than half the cost of the BMW bags and fit just fine. Come complete with a main and a side compartments, handles, and shoulder strap.

I had the same thing with mine, cylinder head covers bubbling. Got them replaced under warranty. Now the bike is off warranty and I kissed (scarped) the replacement cylinder heads on the track  Oh well, makes it look meaner.
