Re: Leak of some sort... UPDATE, Please advise!?

So here is the update. The leak is still there, and I am getting to the point that I believe it to be the input shaft seal for the tranny..... I found one other post on adv rider http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44752 They are down for the weekend, so the way back machine is the only ...

Re: System Luggage

I got super lucky about 2 weeks ago and picked up a pair STUPID cheap from a guy in Dallas. He got them from an estate sale and did not have the key, so he sold em to me. Now, I only needed them for the "touring" lid on the right side. Previous owner was careless and lost one case that had...

Re: Michelin pilot 4 tires

Man, I just swapped out a cupped BT30 front with 7300 on it with a PR4. I never knew just how junky the BT was until I felt this Michelin. OH MY GOD I AM IN LOVE. Like for reals yall, my smallest movement gives me predictable, controlled, beautiful turns. Low speed handling is exceptional as well. P...

Re: Leak of some sort, evidence under starter. Thoughts?

Well, I inspected all after the valve job etc last night. Did a fresh clutch bleed with the new speed bleeder installed. Fluid came out great, and was the color that I expected. I did reach my hand all the way up to the slave cylinder and felt around it. Dry as a bone. Not even any dirt came back.. ...

Leak of some sort... UPDATE, Please advise!?

I notice a wet spot under my starter, just fore of the cat. I have not checked it yet to see if it is oil of DOT4. I did however pull the drain plug for the airbox and a coffee cup worth of oil came out. I left it overnight to drain thoroughly. So, here are my thoughts..... 1. Could be oil from... a...

Re: It's my turn, Final Drive rebuild.

I have an '02 with 27,000 on it.

It's going to be my time soon, I'm sure.

Thinking of preemptively getting mine rebuilt.

Where are you all sending them?

SXSW is coming up soon and I will be working way to much to be able to ride which means the perfect time.

Re: Just bought a basketcase Rockster

I hope that we find an answer to the paint.

I have an '02 that came Dakar/Ferro, with a fully ferro frame and black engine/tranny/FD.

There are a few scratches that I would like to touch up.

Re: Speed Bleeder help

Thanks rob!

Ordered the BMW bleeder yesterday at the Stealership. I gather it will take a week to get here.

I used a punch and did a purge with an accomplice today. Clutch engages in a totally different place now...whoah!

It will be blowtorch time next week.

Re: Speed Bleeder help

I thought about doing the same. Need to find a willing accomplice....

Alas, I went to the dealership today as they stated that they had 2 in stock.

Welp, they had empty bags that I guess were never taken out of inventory.

I have 2 choices then, wait til it comes in, or find me an accomplice.

Re: Y-pipe

I have been kicking around the idea of knocking out the innerds of my cat like I did on my VW Vanagon.

Loved the sound and power increase after.... 8)

Of course on the Vanagon it is a straight through cat, I'm not sure if the beemer is the same?

Thoughts?

Re: The Beemer Boneyard

A little experience with them over the last 2 weeks.... Received a glorious email from them stating that they had come across a used bug screen for the r. This made me very happy, and I ordered it immediately and paid for 3 day shipping. Alas, they reused a box that ended up coming up as a red flag ...

Speed Bleeder help

Looking to bleed the clutch this week, and I have done my research on the grub screw "fun" associated with these bikes. Has anyone used this bleeder? It looks like it would be a better fit than the SB1010S that is listed on the Speed Bleeder site, as the "filing" already appears ...

Re: Oil at filler cap

I think that i installed it in such a way that there was roughly 1 mm sticking up on the inside of the cover. I looked through the set screw holes before putting them in to make sure that there was a good seat essentially in the center of where the stock o-ring used to live. Does that seem right? Le...

Re: Oil at filler cap

Moto Techniques oil filler upgrade arrived today. It did not come with a manual. This ait rocket surgery, but I still want to make sure that I did it right. I removed the Valve cover, removed old on (toasted) and pushed the new one in "fairly" hard to get the o ring to seat. Added blue loc...

Re: Oil at filler cap

Welp, that means that I should have waited and bought the Wunderlich part versus the one that I bought.

Rode the bike today maybe 40 miles after installing the upgraded cam chain tensioner as a "test" 8-[ and it is still weeping. Albeit not as much.

Re: Just bought a Rockster what do I need to know?

I'll buy one of those pillions if you are so inclined.

I assume that they fit the 1150r as well, and I have NO interest in ever going 2 up.

Re: Oil at filler cap

I'm hip to Wunderlich. I have spent entirely too much time oggling the wonders contained within their virtual walls.

How much of the left side of the engine do I need to pull apart to change.

I assume that it is the same for the direct BMW replacement?

Re: Oil at filler cap

The Horning part came in today along with my uprgaded cam chain tensioner (yay!). Alas, when I replaced the plastic oil filler cap with the metal one, the cheap plastic neck (?) is totally spinning too. It was easy to find the detent for its' normally seated position, but really? This is what BMW de...
