My 2004 R1150r came up with a strange starting problem today and I don't where to start. I turn the key on but none of the lights go on. Press the starter--nothing. Get out my multimeter and bat is fully charged. Hook up charger to the start solenoid. Every lights up and engine starts. Ride 30 miles...

Will towing with one of those brackets which holds the front wheel off the ground damage the trans?

Thanks for the reply. I googled them and riders really raved about them. I noticed that most of them were on 650's. Our R1150rs are heavier but that shouldn't change the performance. One guy said they became unstable above 100. I don't there anymore so that is a worery.

Other way around.Replaced filter waiting for starter from Amazon, $68. Installed new starter & relay. Did not install tank. Tried starter. Won't crank. Will remove starter next.

While waiting for a replacement starter, I decided to replace the fuel filter. (Don't ask me why) Long story short. With tank still off, tried to test starter. Battery charged, hit start button. NOTHING. Before I go nuts and start tearing into wiring, removing starter etc. I just occurred to me that...

The wire for the left heated grip was pulled lose when I bought the bike last summer. With winter coming I would like to fix it. ButI don't know where the wire connects. The Clymer manual doesn't show me anything.

The fast idle control works but it does not catch. Is this an adjustment issue or is something broken?
I took apart the whole assembly once trying to fix it. A real hassle and I failed.
If something is broken, do I need to buy the whole assembly. BTW I have heated grips.
