Re: GPS mount on a R1150R

Well I went with the lockable touratech gizmo along with the Ram mount. As I was having the local shop change out my battery and hard wire the GPS, i had them mount the gear. Quite pleased with myself I picked up the bike and rode home, only to realize on route, that the more expensive touratech mou...

Re: GPS mount on a R1150R

Thanks guys......Rob, I haven't been away, well not really.

I love your new bike and look forward to reading the updates. I'd buy your mount, however I rarely ride without a tank bag.....A girl always needs her stuff!

GPS mount on a R1150R

I recently bought a Garmin StreetPilot2820. I've taken it out the box and synched it with a satellite! Other than that I haven't done much else.....Yet.
I was wanting to know the opinions were on mounting brackets for the 1150. The more expensive but lockable Touratech or the Ram mount? :-k

TIA

Re: 2008 Summer Journey

Gypsy,

Great trip report and pics. I'm hoping to head out to Arkansas at the end of June for a few days, and reading your reports is only making me anxious to pack my bags.

Looking forward to your writings from the Rockies.

Ride safe,

Re: Camping Equipment Recommendations

Wow,
The thought of camping usually makes my skin crawl. However, I think I have just been enlightened to the possibilities. I always knew I could find something way cool at REI.
I'm really going to give this some serious thought, at least for one trip. :-k

Wayne,

Don't feel embarassed for a moment. There is something weird about hearing that a fellow rider has had a tumble that makes us all a little closer and akin to one anothers vulnerability.

Glad to hear all is well with you and the bike!

Rob,

Thanks for the post....I have a printed copy now! I'll have a go at this in the next few weeks.

Rode about 260 miles yesterday and best of all.....my wheel stayed on. :D

Rob,

I tried to search for the article I read a year or so ago about filling the preload thingy; something I feel quite confident I can do!

I believe you were the author? Would you mind sending me the instructions?

TIA

Hazards of removing a wheel!

After much support from the board, I followed the instructions and managed to remove my rear wheel, have the shop mount the tire, then re-mount the wheel myself. Due to various reasons I have not ridden until today. Let me just say, once I was on my way, I held on tightly, white knuckled the hand gr...

Non ABS for me. While attempting some maintenance a while back with a pal of mine, we changed my brake fluid first. When it came his turn, we got into all kinds of trouble, the bike had to be towed to the shop. Realized later his brakes being ABS required a little more savvy!!!! He shall remain anon...

I run the wire from the power socket up under the seat. It keeps it taut and well out of the way when shifting.
