I bought the r1150r as my first motorbike several months ago. My previous experience was 20 odd years ago on my BMX pushbike. The first time I had put my leg over a motorcycle was for 2 days of riding instruction on a honda cb250, and then a bmw f650 for the second day after which I bought the r1150...

Thanks for the replies South East Queensland is currently in the worst drought in over 100 years, dam levels were reported this week at 32% capacity. A lot of water restrictions are in place (no sprinklers etc). These pictures here are fairly close to the coast, which isn't far over the side of the ...

Last big ride for the summer
I checked the weather forecast... Sunny with a chance of a shower or two... They lied... Ten minutes down the road, a gray cloud rolled above my head depositing a lot more than I would suggest being 'a shower'. Not to worry, my bike and leathers were in need of a wash anyways, so it was good to get ...

Thanks to the replies, Queensland (the state) has a subsidy on fuel purchasing, therefore has no state tax added to fuel costs, which everywhere else in Australia does, so fuel is 8-9c cheaper here. Not sure about the other taxes in there. Fuel prices have been down to $0.96 a few weeks ago. DJ, I u...

Kingaroy, Dalby, Toowoomba
I haven't really done much riding on highways, sticking mostly to mountain runs and back ways to get to a destination. Yesterday I decided to go out west of Brisbane to see how I would cope riding longer distance on the rural highways, with a plan of riding further that I had in a day before. Weathe...

Another collector question
I was looking at the staintune collecter, queried local distributor and staintune themselves where they stated that the collector was for bikes up to 2003 model, but none listed for 04-05's.
Were there any modification to the bikes for 04-05 that would affect the installation of the collector?

Re: D'Angular
Kanetoad, I did that ride on the way back from the GP this year. I also added Mt Nebo to Samford in as well as the killer Range just west of Petrie. That is one awsome piece of road and probably one of my favourites out of all the road I have ridden in Australia. Would have been a lot better had I ...

Brisbane to Byron Bay via Gold Coast Hinterlands
Finished all my assignments, got a few weeks before final exam so thought it was a great time to go for a ride. Headed off early (for me) in the morning south from Brisbane towards the Gold Coast via the freeway. Boring straight no fun. Hit Nerang and took the Gold Coast Hinterlands scenic route. Af...

Nutters in the Alps
Found this website, not sure if its been posted up before... http://www.roadmc.com/ Theres quite a few streaming videos of riders going round some mountain ranges in Europe at speed. All seem to be free unless you want to download the hi-res versions where they ask you to pay a small fee. Interestin...

I had the misfortune of riding my rockster into town few weeks back when temps were hitting 40C ~105F (do not pass spring, go directly to summer) in stop start traffic. Could feel the heat coming off the bike and started pinging a little too under heavier acceleration (running BP ultimate, 98 ron). ...

Love the looks of the Rockster/Bobster, but not too sure on the glossy black wheels. The rear especially seems to hide the fact that theres a single sided swingarm, it just looks... black. I wonder how this would look if the wheels were painted the same blue as the frame parts (same colour wheels of...
