Christmas - was Santa good to you?

Post by chibbert »

Just thought I'd run a thread to see what cool things each of you got for Christmas this year. If you don't celebrate Christmas - please accept my sincerest apologies and please read no further.

My wonderful (and I mean WONDERFUL) wife got me a Springfield Armory XD 45 caliber pistol. The coolest thing was that I knew nothing about it before-hand. I got great slippers, and a couple of great shirts as well.

What'd you get?!

I got my son home from school abroad, for 2 weeks.

No store has a gift like that.

I think I made Santa mad a couple of years ago and he has not been back since. But I did buy myself a car this month.

I got a cruise to Mexico and Belize with my family (well really kind of gave it to myself  ). It was 5 days of great food, great fun, and great adventure. And I got to leave the driving to somebody else, so it wasn't exactly a busman's holiday! Gotta love being at sea! :D

BTW, there are a lot of similarities between driving boats and motorcycles!

DrawTite Hitch for the new car (....uh... for hauling the bike to trackdays)
Five Shirts (must be a clue I need some new shirts)
Two bottles of Yellowtail Shiraz wine (from the land down under, I drink it for medicinal purposes only!)
And a cheapass, gold colored, pocket watch, made in China, that doesn't run... But it's from my youngest daughter... so the thought counts... :smt060

Don't let Santa catch you kissing the snowman. He gets really jealous.

Got a Springfield XD40 sub-compact last year. I love it! Other than that, got some games for the XBox 360 and more homebrew equipment. Oh and I also got a Zune mp3 player!

Santa was very bike-oriented this year. A Kermit chair for bike camping and a new dry bag for putting all the bike camping stuff in! (I done good!) Now I just need spring to arrive so I can use them!

And we got the computers set up for a Christmas day video conference with my Army son, who could not get home! Not as good as having him here but better than a phone call!

A Taylor, Sweeet !!! that is a great gift. We bought our KLR's as our early Christmas / 30th anniversary present to each other. But santa was still able to slip a circular polarizing filter for one of my camera lenses and a nice TAG watch under the tree for me.

Happy New Year guys! My holidays have turned out quite well. We started last year planning for a big vacation during the holidays this year. Took the family to Disney and then to the beach for a few days. Lots of fun. Stopped by a BMW dealership and picked up one of the new HJC FS-10's with the flip down sunshade. Fits me well and since the Schuberth I MUST have the flip down visor.

I'd been putting off dealing with a bigger problem. My '98 Chevy Blazer has become unreliable and needs some attention (read $$). I've been agonizing over what to do. I don't put many miles on it since I ride to work most of the time, 2-3000 a year. I do need something for when it gets snowy around here in the mountains. My dad who loves to tinker on cars bought my Blazer because he's never owned a 4x4. I'm using the money to pay off a couple of smaller bills and allow me to make payments on this:

Look familiar, Vann?
I love it, tons of fun to drive and is exactly what I need to commute in the bad weather. It should be a good car for my son to "borrow" in a couple of years when he starts driving.

That is a huge load off my mind and a huge load on my paychecks. It should all work out now. That new F800GS is probably out of the question, maybe I can get one of the new KLR's used in a few years.

I am a happy camper. Speaking of camping...when's spring?
