cruise control in combination with handguards

Post by Enjoy-Rider »

Hi everyone! :D

It's been some time since I have been here.......that's because I have moved to another town.
And I've just been on a vacation.....we have been to Germany, Austria, France, Luxembourg and Belgium by motor cycle.
We've done 2000 miles in 12 days......it was great!! I never have been out of the very flat Holland before on my motor....and now I have been to mountains....wow!! :D
In two weeks time we'll go for another short vacation (5 days) to France again :) . Looking forward to it!!!!

Now my question:
I'm having the GS-handguards on my R1200R.
And I would like to have the Wunderlich cruise control as well.
However....I don't think they go together :(
Does anyone of you have experience with this combination?
If the cruise control is no longer an option because of the handguards, I think I will go for a throttle rocker so that I can relax my fingers now and then during a long trip.

Thanks and regards,
Jouke

I have the GS hand guards on my bike and Kaoko cruise control. Works well together.

.. and your experience has me thinking I should fit handguards too .. I swear by my Kaoko.

Still, Mark, I know you'll think my 22" parabellum + foot shields + handguards means I really only need on-bike storage for my pipe and slippers

(Now, if'n I could only get some below-tank shield to complete my wanna-be-RT ... )

Bill,

What's the ordering info for the Kaoko.. my O ring has only lasted about a year and it's starting to slack off a bit..
Need compatibility with the "old" GS handguards..

Don

Kaoko makes model-specifc versions - it's just a case of ordering the right one and it will bolt right on.
http://www.kaoko.com/cruisecontrol.html

I got mine from the local supllier .. well, Western Australia (closer to South Africa than Sydney, but great service)
http://www.motorradgarage.com.au/catalo ... cts_id=143

There is a US distriibutors - http://www.adventurersworkshop.com/ - but doesn't list a specific R1200R. Note that motorradgarage lists the same one for R1200R/S and K1200R/S (no PN listed) and might not be not the same as the GS/ST (PN 32717698103).

Mark / celticus has one with handguards ...

I think mine was for the K1200S or R. No O ring problems so far.

Mark, would you happen to have the package with the PN on it?

The "o-ring" reference is to my poor-man's cruise control.. an O ring stuffed behind the bar-end weight.. :P

Don I seem to have thrown out the package that it came it but the web site says it is part # CRUZCCF500. I reckon you have already looked it up though.

Mark,

I looked.. but good to have confirmation on the number. Now the question is - fog light switch or cruise control? Decisions, decisions.. :)
